It’s that time of the year again, as T3 and Techradar – 2 of the most prestigious technology sites put together their list of nominations for their 2011 awards.
Techradar have announced their list of nominations for their ‘Phone of the Year’ awards and it’s great to see some of LG’s latest offerings to the smartphone market making their presence felt on the list. On the ‘Phone of the Year’ nominations list both the LG Optimus 2X and the LG Optimus 7 have a nod. The LE8900 LED TV from LG has been showered with accolades including a 4 star review from Home Cinema Choice, 5 stars from What Video & HD TV, a ‘Highly Recommended’ accolade from AVForums, a 5 star review from What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision and a nomination for TV of the year at the T3 Gadget of the Year Awards.

Windows Phone 7

The rise of Android has been meteoric, it recently over took iPhone sales in the US and reports say a staggering 100,000 new Android phones are being activated each day worldwide. But there is a competitor on the horizon with the imminent release of the Windows Phone 7, which is lined up to hit the market in October.
Initial plans from Microsoft had the Windows Phone 7 lined up for a release last year, but delays meant that it was held off until this year, with Windows Phone 6.5 released in the interim.

The BD570 Blu-ray & the LE8900 LED TV get 5 star reviews

The great reviews for LG’s technology keep rolling in as Techradar award the BD570 media streamer an excellent 5 stars and ask the ultimate question, ‘is it a media streamer that plays Blu-rays, or vice versa?
The review highlights the quality of the BD570 as both a media player and as a Blu-ray player, all in a small shell. It is assessed on its ability to playback a wide range of media files including avi, .DivX, .mpg, .mkv, .mp4, .wma, .jpg, .jpeg and .png, Blu-ray, DVD and even audio and passes all tests emphatically.

Techradar review the 50-inch PK790

Techradar have posted an article on their site talking through the best 46-inch, 47-inch and 50-inch TVs in the world. Techradar explain their decision to cover TVs of this size by explaining how TVs of this size get the newest technologies first.
This is the case for LG’s 50-inch PK790 plasma TV, which is packed full of great features including LG’s NetCast online service. The review also picks up on its design which they say is “one of the most attractive we’ve ever seen wrapped around a Plasma TV”.

LG InTouch Max GW620 reviewed

Techradar.com have posted their review of LG’s first android phone, the InTouch Max GW620, awarding it 4 out of 5 stars!
The review states “LG has clearly thought about what users want from a phone like this”, listing the easy to use slide out QWERTY keyboard, high quality 5.0 mega-pixel camera, effective social networking overlay and it’s reasonable price as highlights.
Their main complaint with the phone is the use of the S-class UI (user interface) system, which the reviewer personally struggled with, but also conceded that it can be turned off according to preference.
