Rio from above
May 11th, 2009 by LG Blog UK
Following on from the post I did a while ago about photos of London at night taken by aerial photographer Jason Hawkes, now you can take a look at Rio from the air, only this is a cross between aerial photography and Google's Street View!
It's a comprehensive bird's eye view of Rio de Janeiro with 360 degree range, but the way the images distort and respond to my mouse movements makes me pretty dizzy - my browser ended up dancing on the sands (sorry, couldn't resist a song reference!) and I felt rather queasy! Impressive site but not for the...

The remote that’ll make you sweat and a photography project to make you think
March 20th, 2009 by LG Blog UK
I found this on Engadget yesterday:
Crazy us, we thought that a remote control was meant to keep you on the couch -- it does seem rather counter-intuitive to build one that makes you leave your seat and jump around within arm's reach of the TV set. But when this guy saw an over-sized novelty remote at Brookstone, he knew that he had to have it. Not only that, but he had to best it -- by fashioning a controller for Windows Media Center so large that one would need an entire appendage to get any use out of the thing....

Mancunians vote for the Busby Babes, what’s your favourite Football photo?
March 12th, 2009 by LG Blog UK
Late last year LG launched a Photography community website called Loop.
Working under the ethos of "Your moments. Shared" the site aims to celebrate photography and give users the opportunity to showcase and share their best photos with a community of like-minded enthusiasts as well as their friends and family.
As an ongoing reward for the Loop community, LG is running regular competitions for the best photographs uploaded, as voted for by members and, as an extra dimension to the competition, members are competing against a Pro Sports Photographer as part of Loop's 'Pro V Joe' challenge, where users images are voted...

Found online
January 27th, 2009 by LG Blog UK
No, nothing to do with FFFFound, although that's always worth a visit too, just a couple of interesting things I've come across on my travels through the internet today, firstly an inspired bit of advertising gadgetry from marker pen brand Sharpie:
The creative minds working for Sharpie, the ultimate in permanent markers, have discovered a way to satiate our desires to deface public domain. Interactive e-cast billboards have been scattered around cities, which allow people to experience the rush of creating their own graffiti.
Find out more at Cool Hunter.
And, (unfortunately I have no idea who, why or when) these plasticine creatures...

The Helmut Newton Photo Machine
June 12th, 2008 by LG Blog UK
I passed Topshop's Oxford St branch the other night and was impressed by their new window display - featuring a mannequin in front of a mirror taking a self-portrait. I was a tad annoyed that I'd run the battery down on my Secret demoing it at the SMS drinks (read: playing darts and fishing!) so was unable to get a photo of it - has anyone got one?
Anyway, this is postworthy because when I checked my feeds today I realised the window display was just the tip of the iceberg!
Topshop have recreated the 'Newton Machine' in their Oxford Circus...
