LG Optimus 3D – the World’s First Full 3D Smartphone
February 14th, 2011 by LG Blog UKTwo weeks ago, we announced on the Blog that LG were going to release the world’s first 3D smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2011. Well MWC is underway in Barcelona and we are excited that we have detailed information for this eagerly-awaited handset to share with you all.
Now officially named the LG Optimus 3D, LG’s first 3D phone is equipped with a dual 5MP lens camera which allows you to capture 3D images and record 3D video on the go, whilst glasses are not necessary to view 3D content. Not only can you shoot and view in 3D with the Optimus 3D, but you can share content anytime, anywhere via an HDMI 1.4 connection on 3D TVs and monitors as well as upload and stream on YouTube’s 3D channel (youtube.com/3D), all directly from your phone. To make the 3D experience even fuller and immersive, there is also a bright 4.3-inch WVGA screen which is great for viewing 3D (and 2D) content and users can also navigate through the phone’s 3D interface with a unique 3D Hot Key, which presents five 3D-dedicated UIs including Gallery, Camera, Games & Apps, YouTube 3D and 3D Guide.
Besides being the first full 3D smartphone, the Optimus 3D is so exciting due to its superior speed and power. The Optimus 3D uses LG’s unique ‘Tri-Dual’ technology, utilising dual-core, dual-channel and dual-memory, meaning unlike other dual-core smart phones, the LG Optimus 3D also offers significant performance benefits as a result of the faster transfer of data between the dual-core and dual-memory. This means you can browse web pages, multitask between programs, play games at a higher frame rate and enjoy movies more smoothly than ever before. As Dr. Jong-seok Park said ‘We’ve incorporated every feature for the power user and we think they’ll be pleased with what they see.’
Key Specifications:
- 1GHz Dual-Core Dual-Channel processor (Texas Instruments OMAP4)
- 4.3-inch 3D WVGA screen
- 8GB memory and 4Gb LP DDR2
- 1,500 mAh battery
