HOW TO BUY A SOUNDPLATE

May 3rd, 2014 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

You’ve heard of soundbars, but have you heard about SoundPlates? To put it simply, it’s a flat plinth with speakers for your TV to stand on, instead of a bar (hence the name). The aim is the same: to boost the sound quality of your TV for a home-cinema experience in the most convenient way possible. Where the slim soundbar needs to be placed in front of your TV, products like the LG SoundPlate™ can be placed discreetly underneath your TV. Simple and brilliant. Some units are all-in-one designs, but the LG LAB540 and LAP440 SoundPlates use external subwoofers for...

June heralds the festival season, and if you’ve not already got your tickets for field-filling fun you may be wondering what kind of event you should head for. Here we examine a few of the country’s favourite festivals – and the kinds of punters they attract… Glastonbury The most venerable of all festivals – and not just because this year’s headliners include thoroughly dry-behind-the-ears types like The Rolling Stones, Chic, Elvis Costello, Public Enemy and Bobby Womack – is also the one which most divides the country into festival lovers and haters. Cramming 150,000 or so into a gorgeous Somerset vale, it...

Ennio Morricone’s LG “Encore”

February 9th, 2011 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

5 years ago, few people would have thought it possible that mobile phones would be capable of reproducing full, orchestra-quality sound yet LG technicians had a vision that through advancements in technology they could create ringtones every bit as expansive and rich as hearing a live orchestra, a project they named “Encore.” To realise this dream LG needed a partner. A musician who not only shared their vision, but could bring it to life with music that was as powerful as the technology they hoped to create. Enter Ennio Morricone, whose CV includes such iconic film scores as The Good, The...

This beautifully designed product is the über stylish Opera, a Mobile Home by Dutch designer Axel Enthoven. With acts like Pendulum, Orbital, Friendly Fires and Calvin Harris taking the stage Freeze is the place to be this coming weekend. Finally, a big congratulations...

The future of Android

October 22nd, 2009 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

The future of streaming music from your Android handset just got a little closer. Tech Crunch yesterday revealed plans for Google to launch a music service in the imminent future. Exciting news for all GW620 fans. This means that depending what service Google will be offering, it would make Google a Spotify competitor. This news comes after it was revealed the Spotify service is to be included with an Android phone. This is an interesting move and hopefully it is only the beginning of phones offering high quality music streaming without having to compromise the quality of the handset. Watch this space for...

A world without technology

October 21st, 2009 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

Don't get me wrong, I could not survive without my GW520 through which I email, text message, Twitter and Facebook, sometimes all at once. But there is some special, almost magical about finding an old letter, the smell of an envelope and the sentimental attachments you grow for these feather light paper messages. Just take a look at the example of history created on paper back in 1969, by the lead singer of the Rolling Stones, sent to one of the world's most famous artists Andy Warhol. It would most likely never have been available for us to see had it been...
