It’s that time of the year again, as T3 and Techradar – 2 of the most prestigious technology sites put together their list of nominations for their 2011 awards. It’s always a good day when a new LG handset lands on my desk. I relocate to one of the sofas in the office and get to legitimately lie around all afternoon and play with the phone! LG Optimus One Launch party

Last night was the launch party of the brand new LG Optimus One handset. The exclusive party was held at the Penthouse bar on London’s Leicester Square, with a wonderful seventh floor view of the London skyline at night the perfect place to try out the Optimus One’s Google Goggles feature. The party served as an introduction to the new handset, with LG’s trainers on hand to talk party-goers through the wide range of features on the handset whilst they enjoyed a drink and a canapé. Android reach the 100,000 applications mark

With the recent release of the Windows Phone 7 operating system it seems the other operating systems have been out of the spotlight of late. That was until the news surfaced that Google’s Android OS has reached the 100,000 appsmark in the Android Marketplace. This morning LG released more details on two members of the Optimus Family via an online press conference - the LG Optimus One and the Optimus Chic. The Optimus Smartphone family was launched with the Optimus GT540 and will extend to include an Android powered tablet as well as several new smartphones in the future. The newly revamped LG App store is currently available across Asia and Australia, but the good news is that the LG applications store is coming soon! The app store opened with 1400 apps covering everything from games to education, finance to travel, with the number having risen steadily since the app store launch.
