LG Ireland hold a gaming night

Last night LG Ireland hosted a gaming night for Irish technology journalists and bloggers to be able to get hands on with the products and enjoy some beer and pizza whilst they were at it. The 15 selected guests were from a range of publications and blogs including the Irish Times, Silicon Republic, Tech.tv, Digitology, Boards.ie, AnthonyMcG and Culch.ie. Introducing the new LG Optimus One and LG Optimus Chic

This morning LG released more details on two members of the Optimus Family via an online press conference - the LG Optimus One and the Optimus Chic. The Optimus Smartphone family was launched with the Optimus GT540 and will extend to include an Android powered tablet as well as several new smartphones in the future. Google bring Maps 4.4 to Android

The rise and rise of Android is attributable to many factors. Things like the variety of handset choices, the openness of the apps for developers and the price in comparison to other smartphones being a big factor. For me one of my favourite things about Android is the inclusion of Google Maps as standard, including being able to use it as a sat-nav tool for free! LG Application Store – coming soon to the UK

The newly revamped LG App store is currently available across Asia and Australia, but the good news is that the LG applications store is coming soon! The app store opened with 1400 apps covering everything from games to education, finance to travel, with the number having risen steadily since the app store launch. LG UK customers will soon have access to apps including The Sims 3, Worms 2010 and of course Solitaire. Hands up who likes exclusives? Me too, which is great because we have the brand spanking new advert for the LG Optimus GT540 that hasn’t even aired on TV yet! The 30-second ad, the first in the UK for the Optimus, will be premiered on Tonight with Trevor McDonald on the 1st of July and uses the Wikitude World Browser augmented reality app to show off the capabilities of the Optimus handset.
