Insider tips for LG phones

August 9th, 2010 by Dave@LGUK

I was lucky enough to recently sit down and have a chat with Mike, one of LG’s mobile phone experts who talked me through some of the range, highlighting some of the key points and tricks on the various LG handsets. So here is a combination of interesting facts and cool features I learnt over the course of my time with Mike. GD910 Watchphone: The GD910 Watchphone is so much more than just a cool James Bond inspired gadget. It is video call compatible and has Bluetooth built in so you can use a headset rather than walk around looking like you’re...

LG Optimus phone – users guide…

May 19th, 2010 by Dave@LGUK

Optimus Prime was my favourite Transformer. He was a good guy, but wasn’t afraid to use his loud and intimidating Optimus Prime voice to get people to do what he wanted. If that failed he just used the fact he was a giant robot and fought them, and from what I remember he didn’t lose very often. I mention this because the new LG phone is called the Optimus, due to it being an Android phone. It’s clearly aiming to pick up where the GW620 left off, bringing a smartphone to the masses that you won’t have to pay through the...

Smartphones are a necessity for modern life. Allowing you to keep on top of email, social media apps or even shopping on the go. But with so many available the big question is which to go for – iphone, Blackberry or Google’s option, Android? Well it certainly looks like more and more people are opting for Android as today’s Metro newspaper reports that Android phones are starting to outsell the iphone in the US. In the first quarter of this year iphone sales accounted for 21% of smartphone sales, with phones using Google’s Android operating system accounting for 28% of...

Phones, Trains and Automobiles – The Lady GaGa Race

March 12th, 2010 by Dave@LGUK

Two drums and a cymbal fall off a cliff – b’dom, tssh! The old ones are the best, but now, thanks to self professed ‘geek comedian’ Tom Scott we actually know this is fact - because he threw two drums and a cymbal off a cliff! Being big fans of Tom Scott’s work we asked him to come up with a fun video using nothing but 2 VIP Lady GaGa tickets and some LG GW620 InTouch Max phones. So Tom devised ‘The Lady GaGa Race’. The idea is simple, get in touch with 2 friends either side of the country and...

The Gadget Show review the LG GW620 Smartphone and OLED TV

March 5th, 2010 by Dave@LGUK

In this weeks Gadget Show web.tv episode, Jon Bentley puts the LG InTouch Max GW620 through its paces. His review highlights the value for money of the GW620, citing the QWERTY keyboard, the 5 megapixel camera, a 3.5 mm headphone socket and the range of connectivity as just some of the bonuses. He does ring up the resistive touchscreen and use of android 1.5 as drawbacks, but concedes that none of the flaws are big enough to defeat the proposition of the phone, namely a Smartphone that won’t break the bank! Watch the full video for yourselves below.  Also featured on...

Combat social networking withdrawals with the GW620 InTouch Max

February 22nd, 2010 by Dave@LGUK

Browsing facebook at work is understandably frowned upon under normal circumstances, but not today, for I have a legitimate reason for keeping up to date with social networking on work’s time. The GW620 is packed full of features to enable social networking on the go and I selflessly jumped at the chance to spend some time testing them out.   First on the agenda was Linkbook, which allows quick and direct access to your friends’ facebook pages via your contact list. Adding a facebook link to a contact is incredibly simple, just click a link on the contacts screen that directs you...

This years Mobile World Congress kicked off on Monday in sunny Barcelona. LG will be including the Good For You offering on a broad range of phones including the GW620 InTouch Max, GD510 Pop phone and the GM750. More great news for all Android fans as Google Maps has revealed that they are taking their service to Android handsets. Fantastic news for the Google Map fans that have been waiting for the LG-GW620 to come...

The future of Android

October 22nd, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

The future of streaming music from your Android handset just got a little closer. Tech Crunch yesterday revealed plans for Google to launch a music service in the imminent future. Exciting news for all GW620 fans. This means that depending what service Google will be offering, it would make Google a Spotify competitor. This news comes after it was revealed the Spotify service is to be included with an Android phone. This is an interesting move and hopefully it is only the beginning of phones offering high quality music streaming without having to compromise the quality of the handset. Watch this space for...
