Happy 1st Birthday LG Arena Birmingham!

This month marks the first birthday of the LG Arena in Birmingham – one of the country’s leading live music and event venues! We’re somewhat amazed to discover the facts and figures behind the LG Arena’s past 12 months. Since it opened last October, the LG Arena has played host to 800,000 arcoss97 events. Those 800, 000 visitors have drunk 120, 347 bottles of pop, 63, 836 bottles of water, 181, 713 glasses of wine, 183, 889 beers and 38, 485 cups of tea and coffee. The LG Arena in Birmingham is a great place to go and see some excellent touring acts in a wonderfully intimate arena venue. Last Friday night the LG Arena was host to Lady GaGa for the second UK leg of her Monster Ball tour, and some GaGa fans were surprised to find some interestingly dressed people telling them all about LG’s latest technology innovations. Everyone has dreamed of being a rockstar at some point in their lives. Performing in front of an audience of thousands of adoring people is nothing more than a dream for most of us, but LG are giving you the chance to make this dream a reality…

The LG Arena are giving you the opportunity to warm up the crowd in the forumLIVE area at the LG Arena, before the headline acts take to the Arena stage. These musicians include Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood on the 18th of May, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits on the 23rd of May (his first UK tour in two years!) and the international superstar that is John Mayer on the 24th of May.

To enter simply follow the link to the Facebook group below. From there upload an audio or videoclip of you performing and a number of the best performers, judged by an internal panel at The NEC Group will get to play at one of the selected dates.

Life is so Good with LG that 2 lucky entrants to our recent X-Factor Party Competition won a runner up prize of an LG GD510 Pop phone, the smallest 3” touchscreen phone available. The two lucky winners of the phone were Kira and Numaan. Kira was very surprised to hear she had won and was particularly pleased as it was her first brand new phone! Thanks to all of you dedicated Lady GaGa fans who took their time to upload their pictures to LG’s ‘Go GaGa for LG’ Competition. It was great to see all of you embracing the spirit of GaGa with some weird and wonderful outfits. Unfortunately, after analysing the website statistics it appears that some of those taking part in the competition have been unfairly manipulating their vote count. 2009 will go down in history as The Year of GaGa. Her debut album The Fame went double platinum across Europe and made her the biggest selling artist of the year in the UK, she has already won three Brit awards and her nationwide Monster Ball tour has officially sold out.

Everyone has their own idea of what makes Life Good. For some this could be spending time with their family, for others it may well be the success of their favourite football team. Being but a young whippersnapper has its disadvantages. People don’t take you seriously, waiters question your judgement when you send back wine that is corked, salesmen don’t think you have the money to afford anything they are selling, the England 1966 World Cup win was way before our time and the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, did not live long enough for some of us to experience live.
