Say goodbye to Summer and hello to S/S 2010!

Returning from lunch I got caught in a it of a downpour and then it hit me.. It's the end of August. Summer's come and gone! But then I realised the plus point - I'm old enough now for September to mean only one thing, no longer Back to School but - LONDON FASHION WEEK!
This season the London Fashion Week Exhibition moves from the Natural History Museum to the lovely Somerset House and 180 The Strand. But it's not all change as LG makes its fifth appearance at LFW as its official consumer electronics provider.

I hope everyone is ready for the return of the tweed, velvet and leather because this month's Vogue has outlined all the up and coming styles:
Velvet will be back with force, every colour, shape and style has been walked down the catwalk; the likes of Stella McCartney and Elie Saab have taken a new approach from the old frumpy eighties velvet, and we see a sophisticated, well shaped cocktail dress theme coming out.

LG Pout: Fashion in a Digital Age

Last night we went down to The LG Pout: Fashion in a Digital Age, sponsored by the LG Crystal, which was held at Movida. As you'd expect from the title, many of the great and the good of the fashion blogging world were there, as well as the beautiful people and delicious cocktails you'd expect at Movida. All in all, a lovely way to spend a Thursday evening!

Late night shopping with a difference….thank you Vogue!

As everyone knows September's Vogue is the biggest fashion issue of the year, outlining all up and coming styles, everybody get ready to welcome back leather, tweed and velvet.
On top of September being the bumper issue Vogue has organised for all the top global shopping cities to take part in an event that celebrates buoying the economy with a spot of retail therapy, the event, "Fashion's Night Out", will take place on 10th September.
Shops that are included in the event are Alexander McQueen, Topshop, Prada, H&M, Gucci, Selfridges and M&S, all these stores will be selling the limited edition...

Diesel’s “Frankenwatch!”

Diesel's new "Freak of Nature" watch - or the 'Frankenwatch' as Boing Boing dubbed it yesterday - fuses "a steel oval case with a gold square surrounding a split-faced multi-colored chronograph dial" and two different watch-band halves to create this odd looking creation:
According to Diesel's Timeframe site
This hybrid watch is the pinnacle of Diesel design. A sleek bracelet-style watch fuses with a casual leather strap watch to create this signature Diesel timepiece.
It's certainly different! There is a slightly more subtle version in silver and black:

Next Season’s Big Look, But Very Small

Uniqlo have always been very forward thinking in their approach to design – witness their vending machine concept store in Japan’s fashion capital Harajuku for irrefutable proof – and this piece of in-store promotion carries on that tradition perfectly. Spotted yesterday in their Regent Street flagship store, these mini-mannequins are encased in plastic, and wearing 1:75 scale versions of next season’s clothing, giving people a sneak-peak of what they’ll be wearing in winter, without ruining the surprise completely by having them full size.

OK, it's Friday on a four day week and the day got away from me a bit so I'm afraid the piece of literary genius I was intending to bring to you today will have to wait, but in it's place, I just have to share this with you.
