A world without technology

October 21st, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

Don't get me wrong, I could not survive without my GW520 through which I email, text message, Twitter and Facebook, sometimes all at once. But there is some special, almost magical about finding an old letter, the smell of an envelope and the sentimental attachments you grow for these feather light paper messages. Just take a look at the example of history created on paper back in 1969, by the lead singer of the Rolling Stones, sent to one of the world's most famous artists Andy Warhol. It would most likely never have been available for us to see had it been...

Plant Powered Air Purifier

September 17th, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

French designer Mathieu Lenhanner together with Harward professor David Edwards have come up with a organic air purifier , powered by a houseplant. The clever invention goes by the name of ANDREA and will be on sale from October. So how does it work? The plant absorbes the air through its leaves and roots and the filtered air provides a more environmentally friendly option to the standard air purifier. It works best in a room as big as 40 m2 and it is very easy to maintain as the plant requires simply watering. For more information look at this...

Hey! You’ve got to hide your fridge away!

July 21st, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

(I'm going to be humming Beatles tunes all the way home!) In the past week Gadget Venue have had a couple of interesting posts about Fridge Magnets, first a very cute Mario inspired set: The set includes a small Mario, 1 small cloud, 1 hill, 1 tall pipe, 2 bricks, 1 item block, 1 power-up mushroom and 3 coins and each item is made of Perler beads. And then, for the designer who has everything, someone has created a set of photoshop magnets: Then I remembered a few weeks ago The Red Ferret Journal posted about 'Appliance Art' to spruce up your dishwasher, fridge...

Sinking Feeling

July 8th, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

Just spotted this exceptionally beautiful piece of design on the perennially elegant Mocoloco. Created by the NOTHING Design Group, this wash basin is inspired by the natural curvature of rivers and uses a pebble as both a tap and a plug. I guess you'd be sacrificing some serious bathroom real estate to accommodate the unit, but boy would it be worth...

Just had to share this photo from Hong Kong Fashion Week - it's by Michael Lau an artist and toy designer - I suppose it makes sense, if Jean-Charles de Castelbajac can turn muppets into fashion then why not let Lau's talent lose on the catwalks as...
