The LG Style Icon contest tour draws to a close this weekend.

This weekend we’re heading to Dublin for the last of our roadshow events. LG will be hosting an open-call photo-shoot at the ILAC Centre from 10am on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th August.

If you haven’t entered and can’t make it to Dublin, you can still enter on the official Style Icon site.

I noticed today that ASOS have extended their Independent Designer collection again:

we’re proud to announce the addition of four brand new labels to the Laden Showroom section of the site. Sourced and stocked by Adele Laden in the east London store bearing her name, and in turn put online by our good selves, the latest additions are Woona (featuring ra-ra frills and bright colours a-plenty), Ria Roberts (cute Liberty-esque prints), Ducie (fab embellishments, as seen below) and Shazia Saleem (lots of deliciously dark pieces perfect for next season).

And Dezeen have teamed up with Tent London to offer newly graduated (BA or MA) designers an opportunity to be exhibited at the Talent Zone in London Design Week this September:

Talent Zone will exhibit work by recent graduates from a range of disciplines including furniture, ceramics, textiles, graphics, jewellery and product design. Part of Tent London, it takes place in the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane from 18-21 September this year

Good luck to anyone entering the competition - if you’re new to Dezeen it’s a very handy site to bookmark as this isn’t the first competition of this kind they’ve been involved in - and kudos to Dezeen and ASOS for giving opportunities to the new blood!

This weekend it’s the seventh roadshow event. LG will be hosting an open-call photo-shoot at The Gyle shopping centre from 10am on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July.

As I mentioned earlier in the week, over the next couple of months LG are running a series of roadshows all over the country as part of the LG Style icon competition, a UK-wide search for the start of a forthcoming LG advertising campaign. The first was held in Reading last weekend (pictured above) and the next will be held over the forthcoming weekend (June 14 & 15) at Bluewater in Kent. So if you fancy, why not head there and who knows, you could be the face of LG this autumn!

Today we’re pleased to announce the new LG Style Icon competition, a UK-wide search for the start of a forthcoming LG advertising campaign. We’ve long been pioneering in style, as most recently personified by the new phone in our Black Label series, the LG Secret, and this competition offers any aspiring models among you the chance to star for LG this coming autumn.

A nationwide roadshow, running from Reading to Glasgow, Belfast to Bluewater, will visit ten regions around the country, hosting open call-castings where members of the public can strut their stuff - the funkier and more original, the better - and have their photographs entered into the competition. The top five for each region will be decided by a public vote, and the winners for each region will be selected by an LG panel.

The ten regional winners will get star treatment, including a five-star VIP weekend in London and a professional photo-shoot for their billboard ad. One male and one female will be selected by Andrew Tucker, the fashion journalist and London Fashion Week talent scout, to become the style icon for a future campaign, with the winners to be announced in September.

Last week LG announced the ‘Viewtyful World’ online photo contest, which runs until 11th June. The eight-week contest is running in association with Yahoo, Flickr, Kelkoo, and National Geographic magazine which features some of the highest-quality photojournalism in the world.

The competition was devised to provide opportunities to explore the spaces surrounding our lives and rediscover the wonders and attractions of these worlds through photography.

You can enter the contest through the Viewty site on Flickr, you can also see others entries and vote for your favourites!

There are three Viewty phones on offer as weekly prizes - two of which will be decided by the online votes and the best photo will be selected by a renowned National Geographic photographer.

The grand winner - chosen from eight candidates selected through evaluation by National Geographic magazine - will have the honour of seeing his/her prize-winning work featured in a Viewty advertorial in National Geographic magazine and receive a copyright fee of US $10,000 for his or her work.
