Tick tock, it’s Clock Clock

For those of you who feel more is more, 'Clock Clock' should be just what you're after; it's a digital clock with a difference - it needs 48 analog hands!
Called the Clock Clock, this "installation features 48 electronically-controlled analog clock hands which automatically rotate into the proper positions to form a giant digital display."
Created by Swedish designers Humans Since 1982, Clock Clock will be on display at the Röhsska Design Museum in Sweden this summer.

Corpus Clock unveiled

The Corpus Clock is a thing of terrifying beauty:
The brainchild of Dr John Taylor, a fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, the unique timepiece uses the rare grasshopper escapement (the thing at the top) to regulate the ticking, like the early clocks of renowned clockmaker John Harrison. Incorporated into grasshopper design, the aim is, according to its creator, to make a 'Chronophage' (time-eater): "a fearsome beast which drives the clock, literally "eating away time".
It's certainly striking - the gothic look of the grasshopper, the time-eater, a stark contrast to the beautiful, eternal, gold disc of time beneath it. Certainly something...

As someone who occasionally finds it hard to get out of bed, alarm clock technology has always figured heavily on my radar. Traditionally alarm clocks have been utter rubbish but lately a generation of geeks who need to get out of bed have been hard at work on the problem. Often the solution is just to make turning off the alarm harder - whether by making you do a puzzle, or making the clock run away from you.
