Did you know you can turn your Android or iOS smartphone into remote control for your LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV? Well, you can and it’s pretty cool and easy to use.
Step one is to download and install it from either your Android or iOS app store. Just search for “LG Remote App”. It’s free.

Regular readers will have an inkling that music is a big passion of mine. Any chance I get I talk about it – be it in reference to apps or simply some of the great new offerings from SXSW. And you’d be right – I have my headphones plugged into my head practically 24/7. As all music lovers are aware, tech has become an integral part of the day to day music experience, and I for one am always on the look out for anything to benefit the big passion in my life.
And that was exactly what I got when...

Welcome to Paradise Island
May 20th, 2011 by Dave@LGUK
I have always been a bit of a gamer, not to the point when it takes over my life, but still pretty serious. That said there are some games that have taken up too much of my time, starting with Super Mario Brothers, through the entire Resident Evil series right up to my recent Angry Birds Addiction. But none have created an obsession like Rollercoaster Tycoon. If you were to cumulatively calculate the amount of time I spent building my own theme parks you would be measuring this time in weeks, if not months. This addiction to strategy simulation games...

Get Napster on your android device
May 19th, 2011 by Dave@LGUK
In the year 2000, a shocking 11 years ago, the buzz of the online world surrounded the legal challenge against the peer to peer file sharing service Napster. Legendary metal band Metallica were one of the leaders of this court case, with Dr Dre following suit soon after. The eventual result of this was that Napster were ordered to prevent the trading of copyrighted music on its network. The result of this longterm was that Napster were eventually forced into liquidating their assets due to U.S bankruptcy laws.
But that was not the end of the Napster legacy, in 2008 the...

Popcode – the next wave of Augmented Reality application
March 18th, 2011 by Dave@LGUK
We are big Augmented Reality fans at the blog – anything to integrate the digital world into the real world gets our hearts all a flutter. Often I can be found navigating my way to the nearest coffee shop in a new place via Layar, as people stare at me perplexed.
Lately I have found myself captivated by Popcode – a new AR app developed by researchers at Cambridge University. Rather than scanning the traditional marker, Popcode works by simply scanning their logo to unlock the AR content. So far they have utilized their technology with some cool t-shirts – check...

Battle stress with some tech help
March 11th, 2011 by Dave@LGUK
Different things affect each of us differently. Some of us get stressed out at work, where I’m sure others get stressed out by the traffic on the commute to and from work. Effects of serious stress can include sleep problems, depression, skin conditions and raised blood pressure that can result in heart disease. None of which sound like an appealing prospect I’m sure. So what can we do to relieve the stress that we invariably suffer in our day-to-day lives?
Affectiva, a company based in Massachusetts, have developed a device called the Q Sensor that you wear like a watch that...

How safe is your Android phone?
March 8th, 2011 by Dave@LGUK
We all know not to click a suspicious link when surfing the Internet – just as we know not to download anything that we don’t trust. But how many of us use this same logic when using our smartphones? How many of us stop and think that the application we are downloading to our android device is potentially damaging to both our handset and our privacy?
Well recent events mean that we need to be just as careful when using our phones as we are when using our computers. If you didn’t hear Google recently ousted a number of Android applications...

Secure your Android handset
August 10th, 2010 by Dave@LGUK
Last year the BBC mislaid 65 mobile phones, worth a combined £12,913. With the current boom in smartphones you can be assured that some of those were linked to the owners’ email giving whoever chanced upon the handsets an insider view on goings on at the BBC. This is probably why the storylines for Eastenders are such poorly kept secrets.
Thankfully Android phone users have a way to secure their phones using the inbuilt lock to stop anyone accessing any personal details on your phone. To set up your own security on your phone simply go into Settings, then Security, then...

August 9th, 2010 by Dave@LGUK
I was lucky enough to recently sit down and have a chat with Mike, one of LG’s mobile phone experts who talked me through some of the range, highlighting some of the key points and tricks on the various LG handsets. So here is a combination of interesting facts and cool features I learnt over the course of my time with Mike.
GD910 Watchphone:
The GD910 Watchphone is so much more than just a cool James Bond inspired gadget. It is video call compatible and has Bluetooth built in so you can use a headset rather than walk around looking like you’re...

Android have had a good couple of days from the sound of things. Firstly they announced that market research from the NDP group had them listed as the highest selling smartphone in the US for the first ever time, with a 33% share of the market. This marks the first time the Google running smartphone has outsold the iPhone, who had a 21% market share, and the Blackberry who dropped as market leader with a 28% share*.
