LG Secret Nifty Tricks
Monday, 15 Sep 2008

The guys over at Mobile Choice magazine have given the LG Secret a look-over and have shown off some of its features you might not have known about. Secret memo allows you to make password-protected; while touch media allows you to use the phone’s touchscreen to browse photo, audio and video; and slow motion allows you to use the camera to film slo-mo at 120fps. Check it out below:

If you haven’t tried out these features on your Secret then give them a go right now. Be sure to also look over similar videos for the KF600 and KF700. And if you have any neat tricks you know on an LG phone, why not add them in a comment below?

LG Secret: Reviews from round the blogs
Thursday, 24 Jul 2008

Some of the UK’s top gadget blogs have been reviewing the LG Secret for us and we’re really pleased to see the reaction from some of the experts out there - it means you don’t have to just take our word for it about the phone.

Daniel at Product Reviews gave the phone a detailed unboxing and went on to rave about the M-Toy, shooting a video of all the different games on it:

Simon of Zath! focuses on the phone’s toughness and a couple of quirks aside, it looks like he enjoyed it a lot too:

Tempered Glass Screen – this looks great and is one of the best screens I’ve ever used in terms of the feeling of quality – it’s already proven to me that it resists scratches very well indeed – after having used it for over a month of general day to day use, there are no scratches whatsoever – at one point it even got dropped onto the tarmac surface of a car park (by accident I might add). I was a little worried at that point, but when picked it up, I was relieved to see that the screen was still looking in perfect condition!

Gaj of Gaj-It meanwhile really took a shine to the Secret’s touch interface:

I know I keep saying the old worn out phrase, ‘LG are Kings of Touchscreen’, well I’m going to have to say it again because with the Secret phone they have managed to integrate touchscreen and mechanical keys for those of you who don’t like touch screen very well.

Check out all three reviews for a full set of perspectives on the phone - and if you’re worried about balance, they all also talk about the Secret’s quirks and foibles and the problems they had with it: after all, no phone is perfect.

Finally, if you want to find out more about the Secret then check out the latest video on our YouTube channel, which takes you through its features one-by-one:

Helen (and Loki) play with the Secret’s video camera
Friday, 13 Jun 2008

It’s Friday so here’s our weekly video. They say never work with children or animals - but in this case they’re wrong. Loki the husky couldn’t have behaved better as she performed brilliantly for the camera, while we took some slow-motion footage of her to demonstrate the LG Secret’s 120fps video camera. Check it out:

Could you be the next LG Style icon?
Monday, 9 Jun 2008

Today we’re pleased to announce the new LG Style Icon competition, a UK-wide search for the start of a forthcoming LG advertising campaign. We’ve long been pioneering in style, as most recently personified by the new phone in our Black Label series, the LG Secret, and this competition offers any aspiring models among you the chance to star for LG this coming autumn.

A nationwide roadshow, running from Reading to Glasgow, Belfast to Bluewater, will visit ten regions around the country, hosting open call-castings where members of the public can strut their stuff - the funkier and more original, the better - and have their photographs entered into the competition. The top five for each region will be decided by a public vote, and the winners for each region will be selected by an LG panel.

The ten regional winners will get star treatment, including a five-star VIP weekend in London and a professional photo-shoot for their billboard ad. One male and one female will be selected by Andrew Tucker, the fashion journalist and London Fashion Week talent scout, to become the style icon for a future campaign, with the winners to be announced in September.

For more details of where the roadshow is visiting your region visit LGstyleicon.com. If you can’t make the roadshows but still want to want the chance to win you can upload your own photo to the website. Good luck to everyone who enters, and if any of you are the winners then remember to bear us in mind in your thank-you speech!

Playing with the M-Toy
Friday, 6 Jun 2008

It’s Friday, so it’s time for another LG Blog video! This time it was my turn and I had a look at one of the most fun aspects of the LG Secret, which is the M-Toy functionality. The M-Toy takes advantages of the phone’s accelerometers (also used to auto-rotate the screen and make the camera easier to use). Check out how I get on playing darts (not very successfully) and the fishing (where I’m like a pro):

For more videos like this be sure to subscribe to the LG Blog YouTube channel where Helen & I put the phone through its paces.

Taking the LG Secret for a spin on Flickr
Thursday, 5 Jun 2008

With yesterday being a lovely day I went out for a stroll at lunch and took some photos with the LG Secret, which you can enjoy over at our brand new LG Blog Flickr photostream. They came out pretty well - I even mucked about a bit with some of the camera’s settings including macro (the bluebells) and the colour filter (as seen by the sepia houses). Check them out below and be sure to look at the whole set.

Be sure to add us as a friend on Flickr and if you are the lucky owner of a new LG Secret (which are out this week in all good mobile & electronics stores) then why not join the official LG Secret group on Flickr to show off your cameraphone photos?

Flickr’s not the only thing we’ve been playing with recently; there’s also our LG Blog YouTube channel where we’ve been bringing video presentations of the latest LG stuff and more to come. We also now have an LG Blog Twitter stream as well which will feature not just stuff about posts but also what we’re up to lately at LG Blog Towers; if you have a Twitter account too then follow us (and we’ll follow you too).

Secret camera show
Friday, 30 May 2008

Last week I gave the LG Secret’s casing and features a bit of a heavy-handed look - this week it’s Helen’s turn, as she gets to grips with what’s inside and what makes it tick. She’s taken the camera and photo editing functions on the phone’s camera:

A YouTube video’s not the best way of showing the pictures we took, so we’ve provided the originals here on this blog for you to have a look at - here’s the shot of Homer being rapidly pursued by his friends, alongside the negative version of it:

And here’s the macro shot Helen was talking about in the video:

This is the second in a series of videos about the Secret, and if you want to be updated with the latest you can keep an eye out for the rest by subscribing to our YouTube channel.

Style that lasts
Friday, 23 May 2008

Today Chris and I took it upon ourselves to prove that the ‘Style that lasts’ credo is as good as we’ve heard - so I filmed Chris on a Secret handset while he tried to destroy one!

Chris also gives you a short introduction, in case you were wanting to see the phone in all her glory before putting her through some fairly ungentlemanly treatment. In his defence that is most out of character!

No phones were hurt in the making of this blog post.

There will be more videos coming over the next couple of weeks, so if you liked it and don’t want to miss more then why not subscribe to our YouTube channel?

Secret Party
Monday, 19 May 2008

Last Thursday LG held a party to celebrate the imminent release of the Secret handset. The party, which our attendee classified as ’swanky’, was held at Sketch in London.

Between drinks and canapés our intrepid attendee managed to get a couple of snaps of the Fashion show for us, the highlight of which was brave semi-naked girls and boys wearing body-paint and bits of phone attached to them in all the right/wrong places depending on your persuasion:

There was a showcase of the new UK TV advert - which we hope to have for you soon - and Brian Na, President, LG UK, and UK Sales and Marketing Director, John Barton, introduced the phone and took questions from the crowd, although probably didn’t catch as many eyes as the ladies above.

The night also featured the UK debut of US band Venice widely tipped to be the US’s best kept secret… Well, not anymore!
