The LG Blog’s Christmas Message
December 23rd, 2009 by joeO
Merry Christmas Everybody!
It's been a brilliant 2009 for LG and it seems an apt time to look back at some of the highlights from this year!
We started the year on a high, winning the CES Innovations Award for the LH9500 LCD HDTV.
In February, we welcomed Marc from Coolest Gadgets to be our man on the scene covering MWC in Barcelona. It was the official launch of the Arena KM900, our first phone to include LG’s 3D S-Class user interface (UI) and we got to see a live video call on the LG GD910 watch phone to none other than Microsoft’s...

Getting hands on with the LG Arena, KM730 & GD910 Watchphones!
February 27th, 2009 by LucyH
As if Marc's reportage from the front line wasn't enough MWC goodness for you, we've gone and made some hands-on videos of some of the most talked about LG phones at the event for you. Well, it is Friday.
Let's play spy games with the LG G910 Watch-phone:
T-t-t-touch me! The KM730 touchscreen mobile:
And last but in no way least, the much talked about LG...

That’s a wrap!
February 20th, 2009 by LucyH
So my time at MWC is over. I've met some interesting people and seen some pretty cool stuff over the past few days but sadly it's back to real life for me. It just remains for me to thank all involved for making it happen, and I'll leave you with some crowd photos to try and give some small impression of what 50,000 people, 8 exhibition halls and the press room where most of this was written from looks like.

Hands on with the Arena
February 17th, 2009 by LucyH
The Arena is, unsurprisingly, a popular phone on the LG stand but we managed to pry one loose for a few minutes and record a quick video demonstration of the UI. In what has to be the most unstructured presentation I've ever done (it was the first time I'd picked up the phone) you'll see me navigating some of the menus, tuning the radio and playing some music.
You can see the result on Youtube or below. (Once again, thanks to Frank on LGBlog.de for taking the...

LG green technologies
February 17th, 2009 by LucyH
It's usually lost in the glitz of product launches but the environmental impact of manufacturing and running new products is something manufacturers are starting to become aware of. Here are a couple of photos from the LG booth showcasing their achievements in this area. Firstly BioPlastic, which takes significantly less resources to produce than conventional plastics and secondly a solar powered phone:

GD910 Watch phone
February 17th, 2009 by joeO
I mentioned it in passing during the press conference notes but it really does deserve a post to itself. The GD910 watch phone is a 3G phone with full touchscreen interface and built in camera.
It also has stereo bluetooth for playing back MP3s and a text-to-speech function to read incoming text messages. And, of course, it keeps time!
Look for it on Orange networks later in the...

LG-X120 Netbook
February 17th, 2009 by LucyH
The LG-X120 netbook got a bit overshadowed yesterday by phone news, but it's here nonetheless. It's powered by an Intel Atom 1.6Ghz CPU and includes integrated HSDPA, a 10.1" WSVGA screen and 1.3 megapixel...

LG Press conference – wrap up
February 17th, 2009 by LucyH
Wrapping up the conference, the LG representatives answered questions from the floor. In the UK we're not too interested in (for example) the plans for European carriers so I won't repeat the whole session but there were definitely a couple of pertinent points:
Q: Will LG be producing an Android phone?
A: Yes, look out later this year
Q: Will LG have an "app store" where users can download additional content?
A: Yes, more information will follow in Q2
Q: The watch phone - price and availability?
A: Technologically ready to roll but discussions are still ongoing with carriers, so no price and availability information is...
