What Do You Use Your Phone For?

July 2nd, 2012 by LG Blog UK

Sounds like a silly question right?… Well actually, a recent report from our friends at O2 has revealed that we spend TWICE as much time surfing the web on our phones than actually making calls! And over HALF have of us have ditched the old alarm clock for our trusty ringtone playing mobile phone.

The average smartphone owner spends more than two hours each day using their phones. During that time, we spend an average of 25 minutes using our phone to browse the web, 17 minutes on social networking, 13 minutes playing games and 16 minutes listening to music.
Smartphone Usage Statistics
“Smartphones are now being used like a digital ‘Swiss Army Knife’, replacing possessions like watches, cameras, books and even laptops,” said David Johnson, general manager of devices for O2 in the UK. “While we’re seeing no let-up in the number of calls customers make or the amount of time they spend speaking on their phones, their phone now plays a far greater role in all aspects of their lives.”

Even though the Camera is the feature we spend less time on, Eight per cent of UK adults, or three million consumers, now say they are unlikely to replace their camera when it breaks, instead relying on their phones. This comes as no surprise to us of course, we’ve been concentrating hard on making sure that there’s no need for your digital camera when you go on holiday or for snapping that timeless Life’s Good family moment.
LG Optimus 4X HD
Our 2012 flagship Android phone, the LG Optimus 4X HD, has an 8-megapixel camera on the back, offering an array of options: autofocus, touch focus, a flash, a 15x digital zoom, face tracking, geotagging, a timer, continuous shooting, panoramic shooting, and HDR imaging. The camera on the LG Optimus 4X HD also has an exposure meter (-2 to +2); seven image sizes (ranging from 1,536x864p to 3,264×2,448p); five scene modes (normal, portrait, landscape, sports, and night); four ISO options (100, 200, 400, and auto); five white balances (auto, incandescent, sunny, fluorescent, and cloudy); and four colour effects (none, mono, sepia, and negative). Phew! We can see why you won’t need to fill up your bag with a camera after all those features!

p.s. you can make phone calls on it too… ;o)

Looks like you might need to fix the autofocus feature – I’ve seen a few sample videos where the footage constantly blurs.

This does not come as a surprise at all. I personally rarely use my smartphone for calls or text messaging. I spend more time watching videos and reading eBooks on it than I do on calls.
