As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting application developers of smart devices, LG Electronics (LG) today announced the opening of LG Smart World Campus in Seoul, Korea. In the past, LG’s support for application developers has been focused on the online world, such as http://developer.lgmobile.com for smartphones and http://developer.lgappstv.com for TVs. This is the first time LG has embarked on an offline support model for developers.

Located within LG’s sprawling 125,000 square metre Seocho R&D center in Seoul, the LG Smart World Campus will play a key role as a total support system for application developers. At the LG Smart World Campus, developers will have access to most of LG’s newest smart products including but not limited to Optimus Vu, Optimus 3D MAX, Optimus Tag and CINEMA 3D Smart TV. The facility will also offer education programs and test-beds to enable developers to create and test their applications in a supportive environment. The campus is open to the public and anyone can visit by making an online booking at http://smartworldcampus.lge.com.

“Applications for smart devices are a billion dollar industry and its growth has yet to show signs of slowing down,” Said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and Chief Technology Officer of LG Electronics. “Via this facility, developers in Korea will have easy and fast access to some of today’s most advanced devices to work on. We hope many enterprising minds will make LG Smart World Campus both their office and lab, a place where they can go for peace and quiet or to be around others who they can collaborate actively with on a problem.”
