LG Cinema 3D – user review videos

May 31st, 2011 by LG Blog UK

We recently posted about our ‘LG Home’ event, where we invited users along from the What Hi-Fi, Cnet and Stuff magazine forums to have a look at our new home entertainment range ahead of its release. Well two of the lucky winners were drawn at random and each won a Cinema 3D TV for their homes!

The two winners were Richard and Adam, who each received a Cinema 3D TV and a year’s subscription to Sky HD, the package that comes with the Sky 3D channel. We caught up with them after they had some time to get to grips with their new TVs and had a little chat with each of them to find out what they thought of their new toy.

Richard had previously been a staunch advocate of Plasma technology, but the quality of the 2D image changed his mind, swaying him in favour of LED.  He was also particularly impressed with Smart TV, rating the iPlayer and YouTube functions highly due to the clear picture and absence of buffering, even with his low-speed broadband connection.

All of this before Richard had even turned on 3D – saying he was “thrilled with it” in reference to the 3D experience.

Adam was our second winner to get his living room kitted out with a brand new LG Cinema 3D TV. He loved the sense of event that was rekindled amongst the family, as they sat down together to watch a 3D film. The family friendly nature of Cinema 3D was another key point for Adam, who felt he could relax watching Cinema 3D with his children, as he was not concerned about them damaging the glasses, as Cinema 3D glasses are a fraction of the cost of active 3D glasses.

Lucky them. I suppose I will have to buy one (although I’ll probably wait for the price to drop first!)

I was lucky enough to win an LG 3DTV back in September 2010 (LX9900). It was a great TV and an amazing prize but the 3D gave me headaches and crosstalk (where the image attened for one eye bleeds into the other) was a real 3D spoiler. I decide to sell my LX9900 this week after a shop demo of the 47″ 550T Passive Cinema 3D model. I’m blown away! No headaches, no crosstalk and £200 cashback. This is an amazing set and I tell anyone to look at passive before active as glasses cost alone for a standard family is prohibitive. I can’t delll the difference in resolution compared to the full 1080p LX9900 (the LW550T halfs the resolution apparently, due to both images being interlaced on screen at the same time). Cinema 3D from LG is stunning!

I recently bought one of these having seen the 3d in store, but I will be returning it.  I am very disappointed  with this TV.   DVR is not available, the sound is poor, input lag for gaming is too high.  These are more important than good 3d

I love my new Cinema 3D TV but I’m pulling my hair out trying to find spare glasses for my TV. I’ve approached the company I purchased the TV from (Richer Sounds), Currys and Comet who sell these TVs, but they have no listings for spare glasses, I’ve rung the company that do spare parts for LG appliances and the lady there had to put in a request as they had no listing for spare glasses, only spare part they had was the Magic Remote. I tried my local Euronics shop who also sell LG Cinema 3d TVs with no luck. I rang your head office and spoke to somebody in marketing who promised they’d find me somewhere to get these, I’ve heard nothing yet. Even your Customer Service dept had no idea where to get these passive glasses. Your sites state these glasses are “cheap and easy” to replace. The Wimbledon final is in 3D this weekend and I need 10 more pairs of glasses for this party…any idea where I can get some…please?

Hi Oly, Richer sounds should have stock of the glasses
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/3d-tv/lg/3d-passive-glasses/lg-3d-passive-glses
and also Dixons stores. If you still don’t have any joy then I know its not ‘ideal’ but you could always try ebay, i’ve just looked and there’s quite a few sellers…?
    Apologies

Does anyone from LG read these or give a rats posterior about their customers?

    Hi Olly,

We are currently going through a brief transition on our blog so apologies for the delay. If you give our CS team a call now (0844 847 54 54) they will be able to tell you how to get hold of our ‘party packs’.
