LG Cinema 3D™ Launches in Paris

May 3rd, 2011 by LG Blog UK

To celebrate the launch of Cinema 3D™, LG hosted a large-scale extravanaganza on April 21 at Paris’ majestic LE Grand Palais.

With 1500 guests in attendance, LG’s Cinema 3D™ TV was unveiled, which combined the first officially certified “Flicker-Free” picture in the industry with comfortable, battery-free, lightweight glasses, brighter picture, more flexible viewing positions and a wide viewing angle. Together, the new features make Cinema 3D™ perfect for watching 3D in groups with family or friends.

The 1,500 guests comprised of customers, retailers and top media from across Europe who were treated to a 3D screening of ‘Rio’ on the world’s largest 3D screen – measuring in at 27mx11m. Immediately after the event Guiness confirmed that the giant 3D viewing experience was indeed worthy of a world record! The launch also had its share of celebrities present, including actors Sophie Marceau, Jude Law and film director Claud Lelouch.

Cinema 3D™ arrives in a marketplace, that after a first slow year, looks set to take off in 2011. Whereas practically all the major 3D TVs last year used active shutter technology, Cinema 3D™ employs the company’s own Film Patterned Retarder (FTP), which addresses the problems that hampered earlier 3D TVs – namely crosstalk and flicker. When tested in a series of blind tests consumers preferred the smoother, more comfortable experience of Cinema 3D™.

The benefits were underlined by Avatar director at the recent National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, who predicted that the cheaper, lightweight passive glasses would soon become the standard for 3D TVs.

Further ramping up the picture quality is LG’s Light Boost, a thin film covering the screen that ensures 3D images are shown at full brightness. Add in a 2D to 3D conversion function on LG’s Cinema 3D™ sets and you will never be short of quality 3D content.

Is it 100% crosstalk-free? generally most of the companies like Sony, Samsung, Panasonic says their 3d tv are crosstalk-free where as Panasonic 3d tv have comparatively lower crosstalk than others.
