The CTIA Wireless Awards
March 30th, 2011 by Dave@LGUKThe CTIA Wireless Trade Show has wrapped up for another year in Orlando, Florida and we are pleased to announce that it has been a good year for LG as the award winners are announced.
The LG Thrill 4G (the US name for the Optimus 3D) picked up second place in the Phones/Smartphones category, whilst the T-Mobile G-Slate (LG Optimus Tablet) picked up third place in the Tablets/Notebooks/Embedded Wireless Devices catergory.
CNET had a look at the LG Thrill 4G at CTIA and gave it the once over on their site. The first thing to note is that this is essentially the LG Optimus 3D with added 4G for the US market, something that we hopefully won’t have to wait too much longer for in the UK! The inner workings of the phone are the same, using a 1GHz dual-core processor alongside dual-channel and dual-memory architecture. But the really interesting thing about this handset is obviously the glasses free 3D capability – and CNET are in agreement, likening the 3D effect to that on the Nintendo 3DS.
The T-Mobile G-Slate is the US title for the LG Optimus Tablet, and once again the only addition to differentiate the US version to the UK version is the addition of 4G for the stateside market. Ever feel like we’re getting short-changed with no 4G? I digress; the LG Optimus Tablet was well received at CTIA with its Tegra 2 dual-core 1 GHz processor and dual rear 5MP cameras for recording 3D content.
