January 31st, 2011 by LG Blog UK

We have barely had time to wipe the sweat from our brow after the hard work before and during CES 2011, but already MWC 2011 is fast approaching. Kicking off in Barcelona on the 14th of February, Mobile World Congress is the biggest event in the mobile technology calendar. First appearing on the technology calendar in 1987 when holding your mobile phone to your ear was a test of strength and endurance, Mobile World Congress called Cannes home until 2006 when it relocated to Barcelona. The reason behind this move may have something to do with the leg-aching 365,000m2 of...

HeyTell for Android – send voice messages free!

January 27th, 2011 by LG Blog UK

How long would it take you to text "The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality, they seldom attack a human"? I just tried and didn’t get very far in a minute, whereas Norwegian Sonja Kristiansen completed it in 37.28 seconds – making her the Guinness world record holder. Unless you’re Sonja I’m sure most of us would agree that speaking is considerably quicker than texting – however sometimes you don’t always want to phone someone simply to say “I’m running late because of traffic, will be home...

Where Good Ideas Come From

January 21st, 2011 by LG Blog UK

The story goes that Archimedes got into the bath one day, saw the water level rise and understood that the volume of water displaced must be equal to the volume of the part of his body he had submerged and thus he shouted “Eureka” before running naked through the streets of Syracuse. Similarly Newton’s theory of gravity has been attributed to the moment when he was sat under a tree and an apple fell on his head, in what was essentially his own ‘Eureka’ moment. In common conversation today we have many words to describe this sudden moment of clarity...
