Our 2011 technology predictions
December 30th, 2010 by Dave@LGUKThe New Year is a matter of days away and this has made us at the blog cast our minds forward to next year, with a heated debate on the hot technology of the year to come the main topic.
After I was talked down from believing that 2011 was truly the year when jetpacks would hit the shelves we were left with a quick list that we figured was only fair to share with our readers. So here it is, what we think will be hot in the world of tech in 2011:
Tablets:
This may seem a lazy decision, as there are currently several tablets on the market. But bare with us, 2010 may have been the year that tablets made their first major foray into the market, but they are yet to fully reach their potential as manufacturers iron out the creases and consumers try and decide if they are in the smartphone or laptop category, or whether they need a category of their own.
Dual-core processors for Smartphones:
Admittedly LG have just announced the world’s first dual-core smartphone to be released next year – the LG Optimus 2X. Understandably this has been big news as it promises improved running speeds, which is particularly pertinent to the rise and rise of smartphones. However this is something that has been speculated on for sometime and is surely destined to become a major selling point for smartphones in the future.
3D TV:
3D TV was obviously the big news at last year’s CES, but they are still considered an ‘early adopter’ technology. Many look at the 3D technology on the market and still view it as a gimmick with limited content and overly inflated prices. But with Sky already offering exclusive 3D only content, an almost inevitable reduction in prices and many more 3D offerings coming to the market 2011 will be sink or swim time for 3D – and we firmly have our faith in the swim catergory.
Jetpacks:
A man can dream surely…
