More of our favourite Android Applications
August 27th, 2010 by Dave@LGUKYou may be thinking to yourself ‘did they not do this recently?’ and the answer is yes we did. However Android is such a new and developing platform that as of August the 3rd this year there are over 100,000 applicationss to download. To put that into perspective, if you downloaded one a day it would still take just shy of 274 years! So here are some more of our favourites.
Around Me.
Around me is a simple application that relies on function over style. It is used to help you find businesses in your local area by simply typing in what you are looking for.

Bubble.
Bubble is essentially a spirit level using your phones internal accelerometer. Particularly useful for those of you who enjoy a bit of DIY, but don’t want to splash out on a spirit level.

FX Camera.
There are a host of applications for giving your photos a cool unique look, but FX Camera offers multiple effects. These include Toy Cam, Polaroid effect, Fisheye lens, Symmetrical cam and an Andy Warhol effect which replicates the picture 4 times in garish pop-art shades.
Cost: free
Gmail Pop-up.
One of the best things about Android is the integration with Google features. This app is incredibly useful for those who have synced their Gmail with their phone, as a pop up appears on screen every time you get a new email.
Cost: £0.69
Toddler Lock.
Puts a lock on your phone to stop the rugrats phoning anyone and everyone whilst simultaneously deleting all your contacts and hiding your phone in the fridge. Furthermore the lock screen offers movable coloured objects that make a nice noise as they move around, surely motivating your child not to put your phone in the microwave/bin/dog.
Cost: Free
Spotify.
Spotify is free to download, but you do need Spotify Premium to be able to access it on the go. Very useful for listening to music on the move simply by setting your playlists to ‘available offline’ meaning you can listen anywhere without worrying about using all your internet allowance on your phone. Offline playlists also save to the external SD card meaning a large music collection on your phone is achievable.
