There is just one day left to take your place in history and submit your entry to the groundbreaking Life in a Day project! For those unfamiliar with the project Life in a Day is the first of its kind, a user-generated film experiment where users submit footage shot on the 24th of July capturing a moment of their lives from that day. Google bring Maps 4.4 to Android

July 29th, 2010 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

The rise and rise of Android is attributable to many factors. Things like the variety of handset choices, the openness of the apps for developers and the price in comparison to other smartphones being a big factor. For me one of my favourite things about Android is the inclusion of Google Maps as standard, including being able to use it as a sat-nav tool for free! Today the Google Maps application, which comes as standard on all Android phones, got even better with the arrival of Google Maps for mobile 4.4 – the sixth update in six months for Google Maps! Michael...

July 21st, 2010 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

OLED has been a buzzword for a few years now, heralded as THE technology that will revolutionize home entertainment. Aside from Sony’s 11inch offering that was launched 2 years ago (and is subsequently no longer in production) there has been little in the way of OLED available for the consumer market. Well LG’s commitment to new technologies strikes again with the arrival of the 15inch EL9500 OLED, in selected stores now! You may well be asking yourself not only is this technology any good, but is this TV any good? Well according to AVForums it’s excellent! Measuring in at a ridiculously super-slim...

Hands on with the LG Viewty Snap GM360

July 20th, 2010 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

I finally managed to get my hands on the new LG Viewty Snap phone and have been putting it through its paces! One of the biggest selling points of the Viewty Snap is the use of it as a quality multimedia phone – with a 5mp camera complete with Optic-all zoom so you don’t lose picture quality as you zoom in. Build on this with an LED flash and good quality video recorder and you have a decent camera. The pictures below were taken using the camera, the second photo using the zoom. The social network feature offers a dedicated connection to...

LG welcome more additions to the 3D family with a projector, monitor & notebook

July 19th, 2010 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

The current 3D revolution started in the cinemas and has already made the step into the Home Cinema world. Well the next logical step is for 3D to ingratiate itself into the world of Video Gaming, where a more immersive experience is always happily welcomed. Well LG are doing that with the release of their 3D Monitor, the W63D. Specially designed with gamers in mind, the W63D is full HD and has 400 cd/m² brightness to really bring the games to life, as well as being rated at 172Hz per second in order to minimize blur during particularly fast action. The W63D...

The Blair Itch – our Second Home Entertainment Hero Winner!

July 16th, 2010 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

The first time I saw The Blair Witch Project I thought it was real and I was terrified! I think it is only surpassed in the length of time it made me sleep with the lights on by The Exorcist (and I was FAR too young to watch The Exorcist when I did). I mention this because the second winner for the Home Entertainment Hero competition has been selected with his excellent video showcasing his Blair Witch Project film night. Matt Milne was the lucky winner and he really did go all out turning his living room into the forest from...

Cricket star James Anderson is bowled over by 3DTV

July 15th, 2010 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

In last weekend’s Mail on Sunday Live magazine supplement, England Cricket star James Anderson shifts his skills from the green to the living room with his review of the 47-inch LG LD950 3DTV. James is a man who knows his technology, spending so much time on the road that it is necessary to keep himself entertained, however before sitting down in front of the passive technology LD950 James had never experienced 3D – in the home or cinema! His first thoughts were how the “3D effect really draws you in and the sense of depth to the picture is incredibly realistic”. The...
