Following the sensational debut of its Watch Phone at 2009’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, LG again caused a splash at this year’s event with its LG Air Sync function, showcased on the LG Mini (LG GD880) model. Developed in response to specific consumer insights, LG Air Sync is an innovative service that dispenses with wires, enabling users to seamlessly sync and share data between their mobile phone, PC and the web.

Inspired by Insights

Ordinarily, a cable is necessary in order to transfer data such as phone books and photos from a handset to PCs. But what if it was possible to do all this wirelessly? This is the question that ultimately gave birth to LG Air Sync, LG’s groundbreaking data sync system that drew heavily on the “cloud computing” concept. In order to make sure it was precisely what our customers wanted, we first surveyed 1,208 handset users in the US, the UK and France about their phone usage habits in 2009.

According to the results of the survey, 55.3% of respondents were dissatisfied with current methods for sharing data between their handset and their PC. Specifically, they found it a hassle having to use a cable every time they wanted to share data, and they also worried about losing such content as phone numbers and photos if they lost their phone. After mulling over these results, we at LG asked ourselves, “How can we solve this inconvenience and make our customers happier?” The answer was LG Air Sync.

Seamless Sharing Between PC, Web and Mobile

With LG Air Sync, LG has now released the world’s first feature phone to continually sync data between users’ PCs, mobile devices and the web. By constantly saving data stored on their phone onto their PC or a specially created web server, LG Air Sync users need never again worry about losing those all important phone numbers or precious photographs.

As well as constantly updating data, LG Air Sync comes with a host of other superb features. With the R-Click function, a simple push of a button lets users add online pictures to their photo albums, or convert them into wallpaper for their handset. Through the History Sync function, the phone’s browser is updated with the 100 most recently visited websites from their PC, allowing them to return to the exact webpage where they left off.

So if, say, a businessman has no time to keep looking for a hotel on his PC as he rushes off on a business trip, he can, thanks to the History Sync function, resume his search anytime, anywhere. With features like these, LG Air Sync not only raises the bar for technology, it also does exactly what our customers want it to.

Leading Through Innovation

“By delivering more differentiated and convenient services than our competitors, we at LG are determined to gain and maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty,” said Jinwon Lee, Manager of LG Mobile Communications Product Planning Team, who worked on the development of the LG Air Sync. “With this in mind, LG is working hard on developing innovative services that cater to all the needs of our customers.”

Just as LG Air Sync was developed through extensive insight from consumers, LG is continuing to listen and innovate, constantly raising the standard for customer value and satisfaction.
