The reviewer highlights the improvement in the depth of the blacks compared to older LG Plasmas as a big positive in this TV. Other noted positives in picture quality are the THX mode, which produces excellent Greyscale and Colour at the click of a button. The review is the first released for the PK990, which is this year’s flagship Plasma from LG. LG get a cameo in Lady GaGa’s Telephone video

March 24th, 2010 by LG Blog UK

We’ve had the eighties, the nineties and the noughties. But what do we call the decade we are in now? The ‘teens’ doesn’t sound quite right. I’m making a suggestion, why not call this decade the GaGa’s? Yes, technically she exploded onto the scene in a mass of over the top costumes and gender controversy in 2009, but this will be the decade that she makes her own. Her influence over music, fashion, pop culture and her hoards of adoring fans (affectionately known as monsters) is something bigger than pop superstardom. She commands the sort of devotion usually reserved for dictators. Her...

Hands on with the LG Cookie Fresh

March 23rd, 2010 by LG Blog UK

The LG Cookie KP500 phone was a huge success, selling over 10 million units worldwide. The secret to its success was in its simple yet effective design, targeting the entry-level touchscreen market by keeping the cost down without forfeiting any features. Good news for all fans of the Cookie is that it will soon have not just one little brother but two; the Cookie Plus and the Cookie Fresh. The new LG Cookie Fresh will take the basic ideals of the first Cookie and push this forward into a new handset. And luckily for me I have got my hands on...

March 22nd, 2010 by LG Blog UK

What is Augmented Reality? httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKw_Mp5YkaE In a bid to embrace augmented reality myself I downloaded the Layar Android app for my LG GW620 InTouch Max phone. In their own words: “The idea is simple: Layar works by using a combination of the mobile phone’s camera, compass and GPS data to identify the user’s location and field of view, retrieve data based on those geographical coordinates, and overlay that data over the camera view.” Thus, with a rumbling in my stomach and a glance at my watch I noted it was time for lunch, so I opened the food and drink option on Layar and...

The LG Viewty Smart has a smart ad campaign

March 19th, 2010 by LG Blog UK

I have rather poor observational skills. I seem to walk around in my own world, oblivious to the new haircuts of friends or old ladies with Zimmer frames glaring at me on the bus when I don’t notice them to give up my seat. I’ve been knocked down by 2 cars and a shop mobility scooter in the last year alone. The LG Viewty phone is clearly a lot more observant than me, because it can recognize up to 16 faces using Multi-Face Detection on its 8MP camera. To celebrate this technology LG has released the excellent advert below. At first glance...
