Invisible speakers result in seamless design
February 19th, 2010 by Dave@LGUKAdvances in LCD and Plasma display technology have enabled manufacturers to build TVs and other consumer electronics that deliver superior picture quality from a thin, sleek enclosure. Unfortunately, the demand for smaller, more attractive technology has reduced manufacturers to squeezing tiny versions of speakers into a strip along the bottom or on the back so they don’t take up significant space. As a result, the audio quality has declined substantially in newer TVs and other display products
Subsequently as of 2009 all of LG’s plasma and LCD HDTV’s have been fitted with an invisible speaker system. Instead of traditional TV speakers that sit around the edge of the screen invisible speaker technology works using magnets that send vibrations through channels in the screen. The vibrations come from the screen and the cabinet itself, meaning your TV is one giant speaker.
The invisible speaker system is tuned by legendary audio expert Mark Levinson, and provides an enhanced auditory experience as the ‘sweet spot’ is increased which in turn provides a wider field of sound. The invisible speaker allows for LG’s ‘seamless design’ with decreased bezel width and a more aesthetically satisfying TV.
