Browsing facebook at work is understandably frowned upon under normal circumstances, but not today, for I have a legitimate reason for keeping up to date with social networking on work’s time. The GW620 is packed full of features to enable social networking on the go and I selflessly jumped at the chance to spend some time testing them out.

First on the agenda was Linkbook, which allows quick and direct access to your friends’ facebook pages via your contact list. Adding a facebook link to a contact is incredibly simple, just click a link on the contacts screen that directs you to your facebook friends list, scroll through the list to match up the profile with the contact on your phone and hey presto! But that is only the beginning. Using Auto Face-Tagging you can tag a friend’s photo to automatically recognise their face from then on. The Face-To-Action takes this further, meaning you can call, SMS, MMS or view your friend’s social networking site instantly by touching their face in a picture.

Now all I need is an excuse to check my facebook for the rest of the week and I am sorted!

Another one waiting for an update of the gw620. It has a very good hardware but the software support from LG it's not so good as expected. I think that will be more easy to LG to supply the kernel code and the community will do the rest.

    Hi Si,
As i'm sure you've read i am a fan of this phone too! I'm looking into whether or not an upgrade from Android 1.5 will become available.
I've personally not had any problems using cupcake. Have you had any?
    Thanks

Nothing major - a few slow-ups now and again, wi-fi not holding connect when screen blanks (known 1.5 issues). Also there are some apps I've come across which require 1.6 or higher - and obviously any that utilise voice-recognition in any form won't work. From a phone function point of view voice-dialling would make using it with a bluetooth headset properly hands-free. I'm using this handset a lot and I'm loving it too... just wanting some icing on the (cup)cake, really!

Been using this phone for a week now - excellent indeed. Any inside info as to when we in the UK might see an update from Android 1.5? I know it's early days but it would make a great phone even better with features like speech recognition/voice dial, etc
