The LG Serie 1 TV. A blast from the past!
January 31st, 2010 by Dave@LGUK
Some things are better left in the past. Mobile phones the size of a brick, bubonic plague, disco, open sewers and Christopher Biggins to name but a few. But that is not to say everything past should be consigned to the history books, museums or playing widow Twankey in panto!
LG are bringing retro styling with a modern twist back into living rooms with the Serie 1 television. This visually arresting 60’s inspired set comes complete with chrome legs, ‘space age’ styled shell, and even rabbit ear antennas and old school knobs to change channel and volume levels. This 14” set boasts a proper old school cathode ray tube with a 4:3 aspect ratio in your choice of black and white, sepia or colour at the flick of a switch! All very well you’re thinking, but we are used to better things, technology advanced for a reason I hear you cry, I want to be able to change the channel from the comfort of my reclining arm chair with built in refrigerator, massaging seat and robotic housemaid (ok, I made that last one up). This is exactly why LG have kitted out this kitsch set with a wireless remote and digital tuner.
Currently they are only available in Korea, retailing for around the equivalent of £133, with no planned wider release. Fingers crossed though, as I for one will certainly be reserving a space in my bedroom for one of these kitsch beauties.
