The single greatest Christmas present I ever received was my NES games console. It is safe to say I probably wouldn’t be writing a technology blog today if Santa hadn’t made me so happy I threw up on the dog when he left me a Nintendo Entertainment System under my Christmas tree. I loved that console… I miss it; I’m getting nostalgic thinking about the hours I spent playing my favourite games. Digger T-Rock, Duck Hunt, Mega Man, Double Dragon and Tetris to name but a few. But undoubtedly the biggest impact of the NES was the emergence of the most unlikely of heroes, Mario! Who would have thought that a short, fat plumber with a moustache to rival Magnum PI would inspire over 200 games with the original Super Mario Bros. game selling a staggering 40.24 million copies?
