The LG Arena KM900: Your thoughts and reviews
April 17th, 2009 by LucyHI saw an Arena in the window of my local phone shop this morning, which hopefully means they’re in – or coming to – a shop near you now! Seems like an ideal time to do a bit of a round up of feelings so far about our new favourite handset, with a look at some of the reviews and initial/unboxing reactions of some of the bloggers who attended our exclusive launch event on April 1st – while the city was under siege we had canapés and civilised conversations and played with new toys! (I know, I know.. My life is SO hard!)
‘Tazza’ from Gaj-It wins the Speedy Gonzales award; having got her post up before the weekend to ensure anyone seeing the TV ad would be able to find more information – such a dedicated soul! She also happens to think it’s a brilliant handset, but it’s the dedication which makes us her fans.
We Say:
It’s not an iPhone killer, but it is an alternative. With so many more features than the iPhone, the LG Arena does have the capacity to stand out and make a name for itself. LG’s partnerships with Dolby and DivX make this a high quality handset and the camera is something the company should be proud of.
GadgetLite were also impressed, their summary featured Seven Pros and only two cons:
Pros
* Elegant slick design
* Clear, catchy high resolution WVGA
* New S-Class UI is incredibly easy to learn and use
* Range of connectivity including A-GPS as well
* Dolby Mobile equipped – helps the Arena stand out for both watching movies and music play
* A truly multimedia phone
* Multi-functional camera that suits both basic and advanced users, even sports movie editingCons
* LG is not looking to make S-Class an open source platform, therefore unlikely to see more apps in place the future
* Not equipped with the best browser for those who enjoy surfing the internet on the go
- and one of those cons was discussed at the event; LG are aware of the desire for open source software and it’s a possibility they are exploring although there are no definite plans for now.. We’ll keep you posted on that!
Lucy from ShinyShiny, who unfortunately wasn’t at the event but has got hold of a review handset anyway – how resourceful she is! – calls the Arena “one might *mighty* fine handset.” (If mobile advertising were like film posters then you know that would get an above the title place!)
She’s provided a full video review on the blog:
If you’ve got yourself an Arena, or have had the chance to play with one, we’d love to hear your thoughts too!
