And My House Gets Even Cooler …

April 30th, 2009 by agenda21agenda21

It's not that I spend all my time on the internet trying to find cool bits of homeware, but they always seem to find me. After lusting over the Adobe cushions earlier in the week, I've now got my sites set on this US city manhole covers coaster set. Cheap as chips (well, at $10 maybe a bit more than chips) and sure to be a talking point when you have your friends round for a few beers to watch HD football on your plasma...

Trusted Reviews approve of the LG LH5000 LCD TV

April 30th, 2009 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the LG LH5000 LCD TV, they give it a very respectable 8/10 and deem it to be, among other things, "a TV that's nothing if not good value" - at £999 for a 42inch 1080p HD-ready TV with 200Hz, they've got a point!: As usual with an LG television, the 42LH5000 scores another hit with the sheer dynamism of its pictures. They burst off the screen through a startling combination of strong, vibrant colours and impressive backlight strength, enabling them to dominate your vision and, more importantly, deliver a sense of impressive solidity and...

For Designers Who Like To Take Their Work Home With Them

April 29th, 2009 by agenda21agenda21

When it comes to interior decorating, guys tend to go for stuff as minimal as possible - a nice leather sofa and a wall-mounted plasma TV. Cushions were always a girl's thing - up until today! If you're any sort of Adobe geek (as I am myself) you'll be tripping over yourself to order this pack of cushions. My only gripe? These are the CS3 suite icons - they're already out of date! When the black text and gradient fill cushions come along, you'll be the forced to upgrade, lest you be the laughing stock of all your designer...

We want Art, not Ads

April 28th, 2009 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

Kevin sent me this link earlier, about an art collective in New York that paint over all illegal fly posting sites and put art up in their place. As Kevin put it 'Nice!': ...

Microsoft Go Psychedelic

April 27th, 2009 by agenda21agenda21

Microsoft managed to carve themselves a niche in the creative community by selling MP3 hardware with renowned artists custom-designing images to be etched into the back of the players. And they've continued upping their credibility in the arts community with the viral leak of a set of wallpapers for the upcoming Windows 7 operating system. While not epic in scope or ambition, it's a nice look into how the huge software giant is making inroads to creative outlets. The above Noby Noby Boy-inspired number is currently sitting on my desktop, and there's more from this artist...

Dinosaurs in Space and a Dictionary with a Difference!

April 24th, 2009 by LG Blog UKLG Blog UK

This made me smile this morning so I thought I'd share it: Now, as a frequent visitor to XKCD I'm aware there are others with a much bigger interest in dinosaurs than me, but I've found it impossible to shift the idea of T-Rex and Brontosaurus's floating around the universe in bespoke space suits... Like Jacques, I want to believe! Utterly unrelated other than also starting with a D and being a newly discovered joy, My First Dictionary is not like other dictionaries.. An educational blog with a 'word a day' theme created by a Librarian, but there's a twist; Horsley takes...

Next Season’s Big Look, But Very Small

April 24th, 2009 by agenda21agenda21

Uniqlo have always been very forward thinking in their approach to design – witness their vending machine concept store in Japan’s fashion capital Harajuku for irrefutable proof – and this piece of in-store promotion carries on that tradition perfectly. Spotted yesterday in their Regent Street flagship store, these mini-mannequins are encased in plastic, and wearing 1:75 scale versions of next season’s clothing, giving people a sneak-peak of what they’ll be wearing in winter, without ruining the surprise completely by having them full size. Couple this with the recent news on Jil Sander’s imminent creative input to the business, and it’s a...
