2009, already, where’s my Flying Car!?

January 12th, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

The title is a quote from my other half, who is just mildly disappointed that technology has failed to live up to the promises Hollywood made in previous decades! However, according to the Sunday Times the Flying Car thing may be able to come to fruition! The first flying automobile, equally at home in the sky or on the road, is scheduled to take to the air next month. If it survives its first test flight, the Terrafugia Transition, which can transform itself from a two-seater road car to a plane in 15 seconds, is expected to land in showrooms in about...

Link/worrying product of the day:

January 10th, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

Play-doh perfume. Perhaps more worryingly, they have a whole range including Eau de Crayon, Pina Colada (I'd be worried about smelling like I'd thrown my drink down my top!) Paint and - here's the worrying one for me - Glue "Glue Scented Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray". They obviously saw that concern coming though: Did you get in trouble in elementary school for eating paste? The Perpetual Kid did.... This cologne captures the scent of airplane or car modeling glue, a guaranteed trip down memory lane, and no, it is not toxic, and NO, it will NOT make you high… They also do some US...

Everything you know about ARGs is WRONG

January 9th, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

.. is the title of a very interesting 're-version' of a talk given at the Let’s Change the Game conference last month by Dan Hon of Six to Start. It's well worth a read if your interested in Alternate Reality Games or gaming generally - or even if you're not. I'm not really a proper gamer, definitely not an online gamer, at all; in 2007 I became a Widow of Warcraft and tried to get into Second Life (more dress shops than WOW) to give me a similar interest rather than lonely nights on the sofa. I soon realised the way...

Overhead Projections

January 5th, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

Hi all, Happy new year. Hope you had a great evening. I spent mine next to the London eye watching the LG sponsored firework show in the company of what seemed like 4 million other people. The show lasted ten minutes and was pretty impressive, in fact there were moments when I thought my ears couldn't take it any more Also impressive were the building projections occurring before the show, which featured various celebrities delivering their new year messages. While I was watching them I remembered a very impressive set of 3D building projections I'd seen recently and made a mental note to...

Resolutions – and not the imaging kind

January 2nd, 2009 by Dave@LGUK

So, all the mince pies have been eaten, presents exchanged (with each other, not taken back to the shops!) and much merriment and indulgence has (hopefully!) been had by all; now it's time to get down to the business of 2009. Oh, and avoiding the call of the sales! I never do New Years resolutions - I find if I've made my mind up to do something it's best to start it ASAP rather than wait for new years and if I try and think something up specifically for NYE then inevitably I forget or give up within a fortnight! -...
