2009, already, where’s my Flying Car!?

The title is a quote from my other half, who is just mildly disappointed that technology has failed to live up to the promises Hollywood made in previous decades!

However, according to the Sunday Times the Flying Car thing may be able to come to fruition!

The first flying automobile, equally at home in the sky or on the road, is scheduled to take to the air next month.

If it survives its first test flight, the Terrafugia Transition, which can transform itself from a two-seater road car to a plane in 15 seconds, is expected to land in showrooms in about 18 months’ time.

OK, so it could be on sale late next year! That should give me enough time to learn to drive (would you need a pilot licence for one of these?) and save up – anticipated retail price is £132,000! – so come 2012 I can avoid the traffic and get to the Olympics in style! …Although, by then they’ll have been on sale for a couple of years and congestion may have taken to the skies. Bah!
