LG Style Icon Regional winners announced!

September 10th, 2008 by Dave@LGUK

This morning LG Electronics announced the regional finalists in the hugely popular LG Style Icon competition – which received over 5,000 entries in total and had an incredible 350,000+ people registering their votes on the website!

The regional finalists were selected by a public vote on the Style Icon site followed by a judging round by an LG and London Fashion Week panel.

Of the ten finalists, one male and one female will be selected by London Fashion Week talent scout, Andrew Tucker and his panel of judges to star in a new LG Mobile advertising campaign. These grand prize winners will be announced in October.

All of the finalists will receive the ultimate in star treatment on 12 and 13 September as part of their a grand prize, which includes a five-star VIP weekend in London, personal shopping experience at Topshop Oxford Street, a professional photo-shoot for their own billboard advert which will be used in their region and a glamorous night out at London’s exclusive VIP bar, Mahiki.

Jeremy Newing, head of LG mobile marketing, said, “The Style Icon competition has been a huge success to-date and as we enter the final stages with the ten regional finalists now selected, two people’s dreams are about to become a reality.”

We’re delighted to announce:

Where is Glasgow? We want Glasgow. Glasgow person to win!

  • http://www.lgblog.co.uk Helen

Sorry David, somehow I managed to leave Glasgow’s Hannah Hamiliton out! Completely unintentional and she’s on there now. Sorry again!

  • Sandra Passey

When will the overal winners be announced?

  • karen

Congrads to Michael Byrne who won for dublin best of luck x x x x

  • David

Ah there she is. It was worth the wait. Congrats to you Hanna. Hope you win darling. You look lovely dear. I’d have done anything to get where you are but I am happy it was you. All the winners are nice but Hanna rocks. Glasgow’s hanna!

  • chriss

I agree with David – Hannah Hamilton to win. Good looking girl. Well done to all for getting this far, 5,000 entries!!!!! For the boys winner I would vote for Sean.
Sean and Hannah to win. (wish it was me and Hannah!) :-)

  • James

    Hannah to win – defo

  • Mary

Yes I agree with everyone. She has a beautiful smile and gorgeous eyes. Jake looks like a lovely young adult as well. Hannah Hamilton and Jake Egginton would make a great couple for the winners. I’m sure the whole country are behind you both. However good luck to you all. You have all done very well. Mary

I agree that the Glasgow finalist Hannah should win – hands down. Not sure which male ( I think Jake looks too young – possibly Sean, Hard one for the judges to decide). Hannah is the clear winner for the girls, even although all the girls are very pretty. Well done to all 10 winners for being narrowed down from 5,000 entrys, you should be very proud that the Great British public picked you.

  • Kelly Sommers

I think they are all stunning but the winner for me is Rebecca Dempsey. She looks very stylish and a real stunner. For the boys l would agree with the rest of you, Jake Egginton to win. Good luck to all of you. Kelly x

  • William Hamil

No, surely not. Dempsey has obviously been made up to look like she does and therefore should not win a “Style Icon Competition” as it is not her style but someone else’s. This is not a gibe but she does not appear to be the only one, male and female included. Working in the field I do I can tell you without hesitation these models in question will look far different in person. Besides the public do not want these emaciated size 0 stereotypical models any longer. Why would they. They want people they can relate with as well as being able to look up to. Those with a natural flair. Those with style. Those with their OWN unique personality. Thankfully I agree with the public, and without much evidence, this is positively shines through Hannah. I have not decided as yet for the male, either Jake or Sean. This is going to be a heavily contested subject and a significant contest to keep an eye on. I shall be watching very closely, along with numerous other eyes, and I hope the judges make the right decision.

I apologise, adding to my previous comment, I would like to know if there are any additional pictures of the finalists and/or any information on each individual apart from their names as I cannot seem to locate anything. Also, besides from starring in a national campaign, is there going to be an official release of what the winners receive apart from this? For example, contract’s or prizes. Yours, William.

  • Sinead

    Hello

Would just like to add WE all look the same as our pics – apart from Rebecca who is still gorgeous, an maybe me as my hair is now darker!

Best of luck to everyone!! Your all fab

    xx

  • H Andrews

In response to Mr Hamils personal attack above on Rebecca Dempsey I would like to say SHUT UP! She is stunning and should win this competition hands down. She may have been made up for the photos and I happen to know that naturally she looks very different – in fact even more beautiful. L&G is constantly changing it’s range (such is it’s success) so surely the new face of L&G should be capable of the same? The name stays the same but the model transforms. Good luck to everyone.

William, I have just added some more photos of our finalists to the LG Flickr channel, unfortunately I don’t have any more of Sinead and Rebecca – http://www.flickr.com/photos/lgblog/sets/72157607218265823/

The 2 winners will be the stars of the national advertising campaign, all ten finalists will be featured in regional advertising and all received the luxury trip to London for the final, that’s the prize package. I’ll keep you posted should we get any more information & we’ll post again on our overall winners when they are announced in October. Thanks!
