    It doesnt support ssl on the email section :(

    Why why why why when almost every provider these days uses this!

    Thanks for this post! I have to admit I’m an SE girl, and given that SE has an extra long battery life compared to anyone else, it’s difficult for me to switch! But their recent offerings haven’t been quite up to expectations, (they could offer so much more in just *one* killer phone) so I’m casting around for alternatives. the ViewTY is definitely one of them, and the flipbook + this post nearly has me sold!

    We have no plans to launch Freeview Playback integrated into smaller screens but we are looking at the market place and undertaking focus groups to see if consumers want small screen freeview playback

    If you need another review, give me a shout. I am looking to upgrade my N80 for an N95 but your little beauty has come into my radar. With imaging being so important to me (as well as functionality) I am seriously considering the Viewty.

    I see the two phones as being very similar so presents me with a real dilemma.

    I got myself a viewty phone today. now I’d like to synchrnise it with Outlook 2007 but this nice designer phone only supports Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003.
    Unfortunately I couldn’t find any Updates for lg pc suit. my version 2.0.1.15. have you got any ideas how I could solve this problem?

    Hi,
    I bought my Viewty last week after a long hesitation between it and the N95 8Gb. I was looking for a 5 Mpx camera / video phone that also has all the functionalities for business users (Outlook integration mostly). I was hoping to ditch my Axim x51v windows mobile pda.
    After one week of using the Viewty, I must admit that this is an excellent piece of work. Unfortunately for me, it is mainly oriented for the “fun and leisure” user type and lacks a good integration with Outlook. The synchronization with 2 computers (contacts, notes, calendar) is quite uneasy. I also really don’t understand why there are limitations on the number of items you can synchronize (5 memos max, 100 meetings, etc.). The viewty does extremely well what it is made for: camera, video and phone. But I have the feeling that it can and should be doing a lot more. Comparing to Windows Mobile, the number of software applications available for the viewty seems scarce (maybe I did not search well though)… For this, users like me should be able to easily install third party applications from a trusted source like LG itself. Do you guys have a website that offers such a software distribution platform? It would be really nice if LG developed its online communities for users to share their experiences, tips, etc. Today the only point of contact with the company (apart from marketing stuff) seems to be this blog. I think that this is part or the customers’ experince with your products: feeling the company understands their needs (more software) and is close to them (online communities).
    Also as a developer myself, I would really like to develop some tools in Java, software that would respond to my needs. But I found no information on an API for the Viewty’s OS. Do you know if this exists? With the iPhone OS and Android on the way, I really think LG should open up its OS (at least give us an API). I am certain lots of developpers would start hacking with it (i.e. improving on it).
    Two last annoying points on the viewty:
    - why is the keyboard only available for messages ? Can’t you make it available in all the applications requiring the input of text?
    - contact searc functionality is really too basic. Check out how “SPB Mobile Shell” uses the phone pad to search for contacts: you don’t need to push 3 times on the button to get the letter, you only push once and the application automatically guesses the name. That is intuitive!

    Hi guys, hope you can help.
    I have upgraded to the viewty, it’s my first LG phone, quite like the phone and features but having problems connecting it to my laptop via the USB cable. The software provided with the phone has been installed and the phone is recognised and seems to be connected, but if I try to click on content, the program has an error and needs to close (option to send error report or not type window) has anyone else reported this issue? any ideas? error report shows below:

    One thing I cannot get confirmed anywhere – does the Viewty support user-downloaded Flash or Flash Lite content, either in the web browser, or in a standalone player ?

    We have just launched a new website, http://www.playyoo.com (or m.playyoo.com from WAP) dedicated to mobile games created in Flash Lite, and I’d love to add the LG Viewty to our list of recommended phones.

    In terms of the text input – this is something that I whole heartedly agree with but generally once the software development is finished unless there are any major issues we don’t tend to mess around with the software unless we really need to, however I have fed this back as an action point for future products.

    In terms of an API, we don’t tend to allow access to 3rd parties on this as it’s not exactly an Open OS.

    HI, I’ve owned the Viewty for about 3 weeks and although it did take a while to get used to the touch screen and scrolling, it does a good job. Here are my personal comments on this handset:

    Negatives:

    Scrolling thumbnails in the gallery is quite slow to go from page to page. ( this may be due to the speed of the SDHC card? )

    The MP3 player could do with EQ and a bit more volume.

    Lower light conditions exhibit quite a bit of noise, no matter how you set the Camera ( ISO, Flash, Auto, Image Stabilisation ).

    The Flash won’t come on in manual mode i.e. ISO 100.

    The autofocus (using the focus assist lamp) is a bit slow.
    Images have a significant red hue in “Auto mode” (this can be cleaned up in photo editing software).

    Manual Focus setting should stay “saved”, or default to infinity so that if you want to take a photo of a funny moment, the camera will operate almost immediately – rather than having to wait for autofocus to kick in.

    POSITIVES:

    The Video mode is quite exceptional! The N93 might just pip it to the post – but that’s the size of a tapeless camcorder anyway! You can take excellent quality clips in a variety of lighting situations. The only significant differences between this and a normal camcorder is probably:

    1. Optical Zoom ( I’m not fussed, the digital zoom in video mode
    works okay)
    2. Automatic gain control for the audio. I like to video live bands and a camcorder can set the volume so that it doesn’t distort – unfortunatley not something any mobile phone maker has apparently considered yet?

    The handwriting tool is fun and works well even using the edge of your fingernail.

    The QWERTY keyboard is an excellent idea and allows for very quick texting and even memo taking.

    The Slow motion video (when used in reasonable light ) works very well.

    The overall design and asthetics are very good in my opinion and a lot of features are packed in to a very compact handset.

    Does it curently match up with LG spokeman’s quote:

    The LG Viewty is a camera phone with unparalleled functions,” said Dr Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics. “This handset provides quality matching or exceeding that of conventional digital cameras.”

    For me, not yet. But the majority of my gripes are fixable in software based on my experience with SE and Nokia handsets and I would certainly recommend the Viewty to anyone.

    Hi,

    Good phone with some good ideas.
    But it feels like an unfinished, rushed project.
    LG is well known for not providing firmware updates but there are parts of this phone that desperately need some more work.

    Who on earth provides an alarm clock that doesn’t make any noise when the phone is left in Vibrate Mode?
    Who provides a Recently Used (Send SMS menu) contacts list that has mutliple entries for the same people?
    Why is there no (legitimate) option to add themes to the phone?

    there are lists there of what people have found displeasing about this model. it could be so much more and was probably rushed out because of the IPhone release.

    I was thinking of changing my N95 because the camera is dreadfully slow on the N95 and I like taking pictures, but it hit me, there are quite a few features I use on my N95 that I would loose if I changed to the viewty, TomTom, Wifi, and well the Symbian OS, whilst not being the most stable OS it has plenty of 3rd party software, which i think is important. Personally unless a manufacturer shows us something new with a decent OS with 3rd party application support I will be sticking to Symbian or Windows Mobile phones. :(

    currently we have a plan to launch an online digital shop for Viewty accessories which will trial in the UK, this should go live from the end of January. We have offered all accessories to all the major channels in each of our European countries but nobody decided to buy any to sell through to the consumer, therefore we are setting up this online process to allow the consumer to contact us directly. So CPW and The Link etc might say they don’t have these but this is only because they chose not to!! When I hear the online system has gone live in the UK I’ll let you know as all the Viewty accessories will be available from there.

    Not quite the similar conclusion you’d expect… perhaps a firmware upgrade may help some of those experiencing poor quality from the supposedly excellent camera?

    If you’re still looking for the info, you only have to :
    1) put your Viewty in USB Mass Storage Mode
    2) export your contacts & stuff on the phone’s memory …
    3) Link Viewty with PC, grab the interesting stuff, import them on your preferred mail client ..
    4) Export your calendar & stuff from outlook to file formats supported by LG’s … put them on the Phone
    5) On the Viewty, import the files

    … can be far more simpler if your client supports OBEX sync to your phone (needs a Bluetooh dongle for that, or something … not sure if the one you mention supports it; however, Evolution, KMail, and so many other Linux clients do !!!)

    I’ve used it for a month as a backup for my N95 so i dont have to keep swapping sims when i travel.

    Like – battery life – compared to my N95 its great I only have to charge it every two days. The Nokia struggles on one day
    The interface
    It works everywhere and its unlocked unlike the apple iphone
    It looks cool.
    The touch interface is great and easy to use (not quite as good as the iphone but the iphone is all interface and no phone)

    Dislike
    No camera lense cover
    No support for exchange client which makes it a non starter for business
    Strange USB power interface – yet another cable i have to carry (or as this week forget)
    No wi fi
    No information on applications _ i guess there are some but i cant find them easily
    No information on firmware or application updates LG are not geek friendly
    No GPS

    I like it but for the price felt it a bit underconfigured. The camera is OK but I know the camera lense is going to be scratched soon too.

    I love the original Viewty! Did you have to make it in silver?? haha before my viewty i had the shine, and I must say nothing beat that design…maby until now! I saw on http://www.testseek.com that the original got 79%!!! That rocks! I will wait until there is some reviews out there on the new Silver and if it recives the same high score…that sucker is mine! :):)

    It’s good to know that you are improving an already wonderful phone. There are view in the blogosphere about the Viewty being the “iphone-killer”. However, to truly be one, the Mac audience cannot be left out. Are there any plans to make the Viewty compatible with Mac OSX?

    My initial thoughts when I first held this in my hand was that it felt very sturdy, definitely not one of those fragile/low build quality plastic products!

    The carbon fibre is a very nice touch and also the tempered glass ensures a high build quality feel and should mean that this is one mobile that will last till the end of your contract!

    Like James I’m normally a smartphone fan who often carries a second multimedia mobile around with him, I’ll post a proper review on my site in the next couple of weeks, but so far I’m impressed with the Secret!

    I find VIEWTY a beautiful phone. I purchased it three weeks back and using it with immense pleasure.

    There are, however, few items need improvements as stated below:

    (1). Scrolling not smooth,

    (2) Animations in .gif or .swf can’t be set as wallpaper / screensaver etc. (if it is possible, I don’t know how to set as wallpaper / screensaver etc.)

    (3) Certain software in the format of .sis file is not supportive. (I have a beautiful clock in .sis format, but alas, I can’t load it since the same is not supported)

    (4) Booklet is not legible especially for those who have eye-weakness. I can’t read it with my glasses on. I have to use magnifying glass to read USER GUIDE.

    I hope all the above items will be considered while upgrading software for VIEWTY (Reg. USER GUIDE please provide it in PDF format online with bigger fonts in size 12)

    Kindly accept my heartiest well wishes for better progress for LG.

    David, it’s of course a subjective point of view, but plenty of reviews have praised the Viewty’s firmware & interface for its ease of use and its capabilities (e.g. here and here. The Secret’s firmware will be taking that as a starting point, with further experience and feedback since the Viewty’s launch which will only improve it.

    @ Mark & Chris… for such a popular phone it’s quite dissapointing that the device doesnt support iSync with Mac… I’m even struggling to connect via blootooth to my 3G – and my previous phone the SonyEricsson K800i worked like a charm with mac OS X…

    p/s: I’ve just read up on the specs. Firstly – a little disappointed that there is no Wifi, and no Xenon flash; but, it comes with its own 3.5mm headphone jack, which for me is a +++ since I use my Viewty as my main portable media centre. It looks a lot slimmer as well.

    Hi Tom – the resolution of the Secret’s camera in 120fps mode is the same (QVGA – 320 x 240px) as the Viewty, so there should be no difference in blurriness. Bear in mind that video quality can vary for a wide variety of reasons, including lighting conditions and how steadily the phone is being held. Video sharing sites’ compression settings and formats also vary when videos are uploaded which can further vary quality. Therefore it can be difficult doing like-for-like comparisons.

    Thanks for the quick reply Chris. Good to know they record at the same specs, I imagine the two models might perhaps use different CCD chips and recording hardware however that could lead to differences in quality (more compression artifacts etc?).

    From the sounds of it though in your opion there seems to be no discernable 120fps quality difference?

    I just bought one of these and can truly say it is an awesome photo frame. Havent got it stuck to the fridge yet. Saves me printing photographs out.

    VIEWTY is a BEAUTY amongst all the mobiles of different brands.
    Superb CAMERS, colorful pictures and video recordings are theassets of the phone.

    The annoying part is one plug for multi-use. It has most of the wear & tares. For Charging, USB port, Radio listening, Ear-Plugs etc.. one has to use only one common plug slot. With the rsult my viety is malfunctioning USB Port.

    I could not understand how thier skilled team working on such highly sophisticated Phone, forgot this before finalizing the design and other functionings of the phone. I visited LG Service center in MUMBAI (INDAI) it could not be repaired.

    LG People are u reading what I said above…? Now what should I do to get it back as it was.

    I have just got my LG from orange! But I am having so much problem with the signal! It will have full bars, then just drop down to nothing and say “Emergency calls only” i’ve called orange and all they said is they will monitar my calls and see if it continues doing this. Also it never came with the Google Package!

    We have three Viewty’s in our family business, all on the Orange network. So far we have had to return two of them because of the same problem Luke has expereienced. Loss of signal and callers getting voice mail when you know the phone was not engaged. One of the phones has been changed twice but still the problem continues. My daughter has had a Viewty for some time now but it’s on T Mobiles network and she has not had a problem. We do not experience network problems on Orange if we switch to our old spare phones, like the Samsung D900, so could it be something that is different in the Orange Viewty’s?

    Hey, I’ve just got the LG Secret and after having a bit of trouble uploading some videos to my PC i’ve managed to do it, but I can only play them back on the LG PC Suite, not on Quicktime or Real Player and in Windows Media Player it just plays the sound with no picture.

    Can you let me know why this is and how it can be resolved? I want to upload my videos online but I won’t be able to watch them!

    I’ve got two of these on two different contracts with Vodafone (mine and wife’s), hers for about a fortnight and mine arrived yesterday.

    The functionality of the unit is great. I have also however seen similar problems to Peter (comment 15) and Luke (14) with signal dropping out and displaying “Emergency Calls Only”.

    More important than this problem though is the aweful battery life.

    When my wife’s arrived she set it up, like you do. We had a play, like you do. The battery was dead in 36 hours. Thought it might be a battery problem. Charged it. Again 36 hours and it was dead. No phone calls made and about 10 text messages.

    I charged my handset all day yesterday and set it up when I got home. Changed some settings, transferred a couple of files for ringtones, took a couple of pictures. I haven’t made a phone call or sent a text message yet! I got to work at 0830 today and the phone was dead at 9. That’s 12 hours on battery life and I’m now stuck without a phone until I can get home and charge it.

    I think both these handsets will be going back to Vodafone and we’ll get something that’s reliable.

    Peter and Luke, There is no known issue with Viewtys on Orange.. Our tech bods say “We do build operator specific software to ensure they are able to be customised for each of the operators’ required services but usually it should all be done off the same base software so I’m not sure that is the reason for the differing network connection capability between the 2 networks..” They’re going to look into this further for you.

    Collin, sorry to hear you’ve been let down by your phone. I have a tip for you too – use the KF750’s ‘Auto Luminance Control’ to reduce the battery consumption by the screen by allowing it to adjust the contrast of the screen in line with the light levels outside the device – this can be turned on by going in to the settings menu then selecting ‘Display Settings’ and finally option number 5 called ‘Backlight’ – in this menu it allows you to select something called ‘Auto Brightness’ – this needs to be turned on and then the phone itself automatically adjusts the contrast and brightness of the screen dependent on the ambient light levels around the device at that time – thus reducing battery consumption levels.

    Sasha – there should be no network problems with either Vodafone or T-Mobile. The phone comes with a USB cable and PC suite for connection & synchronisation with your computer, and the micro SD card is hot-swappable with no ill effects (I’ve just tried it on mine to make sure!).     hai ppl, feel sad listen to lg secret owner by contract.. so much problem seem to appear..i got mine 2 week ago and did not get contract got mine carphonewarehouse for 299 plus 20 for airtime on O2 network and have to say i live in birmingham city got my phone bar full that is 7bar Excellent my call/recieve s cystal!, my lg secret work just perfect.. my battery life been control by switch on power saver on phone last 3 day after full charge and normal phone use and game, also i found out LG secret KF750 able to use microSD card’s upto 8GB yea i know it say upto 4GB but i have faith my secret.. bought 8GB put on Boom work like.. perfect.. love my secret and it will last, hehe remember “good to hav secret, but to own it better”

    Chris – it’s up to what colour you prefer. The silver version has an improved scroll wheel but apart from that it is just like the black one. Maybe you should head to a store and try both out and see which one you like best?

    I picked this phone up recently and I have to say I love it, but like Luke says, I was disappointed to see that the Google Package is not included. Is there any way to download this to the phone?

    Also, I’m having trouble watching videos on YouTube. I’ve bookmarked YouTube’s mobile site on the phone but whenever I view a video it says ‘Connecting’ for a while and then something like ‘Connection timed out’ (I can’t see for sure cos the screen only lasts about 1/4 of a second). I’ve tried this with several videos and they all do the same thing.

    I’m on an O2 contract with unlimited web access and my streaming settings appear to be fine. Any ideas?

    Just got this phone on contract and love it apart from one problem.I cant transfer pictures from or to it!Im on windows vista so wondered if that might be the problem?I change the settings so its on the pictbridge setting which i also do when I transfer music which works fine but when I try to transfer pictures off my phone it says I have no pictures to transfer which is not true and then when I try to put pictures on my phone I get an error on the screen saying I need to close other aplications and then an error on my computer saying connection closed.I really dont know what to do! It looks like LG don’t care about supporting/fixing past models, and now I’m left with a phone that is horrible at taking pictures in poor light & is totally unuseable as a music player – play lists take up to 5 minutes to load.     Have recently upgraded to a LG Secret on 02. Am really pleased with it apart from one thing. I do not always get text messages when I should. I received one text 4 days after the sender sent it. I find that in order to receive some texts. I have to turn my phone off and then back on again, upon starting up the message icon appears on top of the screen and I find severall texts waiting for me in my inbox. Why am I not getting the texts when I should.

    just bought this phone!…visually and technological it’s amazing to me. alot of thought went into this phone you can tell. 1 little warning to everyone with fat thumbs..and thank god mine are not lol….the ‘ok’ button is way to close to the ‘up and down’ touch buttons….you will find yourself pressing them before the ‘ok’ button too many times! especially because it’s quite flat too!

    Hey- i’ve just recently got this phone on contract and i absolutely love it! I am literally the envy of all my friends. One of the things i was looking forward to the most about this phone was the camera… it takes great pictures, and there are about 3 different ways of viewing them on the phone (i like the touch media way!) but i’m having the same problem as Rachael (23rd August, 2008, 9:36PM) in the sense that i do have pictures on my phone, but when i connect it via USB lead to my computer, and turn the USB connection mode onto pictbridge, it comes up with the message “no new photos or videos”. Its annoying cos i have some really nice pictures of my friends on there that i want to upload onto my computer! Oh if it makes it any easier- i’ve got a memory card in my phone, which most of the pictures are saved onto… do you reckon that this is the problem? Please let me know soooooon ?? =]

    I really like the thought that has gone into the 32PG6000. It seems like such an obvious observation when you say that many rooms in the UK are small or an awkward shape, which mean other manufacturers just discount this market. It’s great that LG have come out with a Plasma to fit people’s living arrangements instead of the other way around.

    No, surely not. Dempsey has obviously been made up to look like she does and therefore should not win a “Style Icon Competition” as it is not her style but someone else’s. This is not a gibe but she does not appear to be the only one, male and female included. Working in the field I do I can tell you without hesitation these models in question will look far different in person. Besides the public do not want these emaciated size 0 stereotypical models any longer. Why would they. They want people they can relate with as well as being able to look up to. Those with a natural flair. Those with style. Those with their OWN unique personality. Thankfully I agree with the public, and without much evidence, this is positively shines through Hannah. I have not decided as yet for the male, either Jake or Sean. This is going to be a heavily contested subject and a significant contest to keep an eye on. I shall be watching very closely, along with numerous other eyes, and I hope the judges make the right decision.

    I just upgraded to the LG Secret and whilst I think it is a great looking phone phone there are a few issues such as battery life and a music player which is really slow to respond when you want to browse your playlists.
    However, the one thing that I am really not happy about is that Orange decided to remove the Google apps. One of the features that I bought it for was to have these integrated apps. I downloaded the gmail java application but it is buried under several layers of menus and keeps asking permission to connect each time you run it.
    The built in mail client on the phone also doesn’t work with gmail as SSL isn’t supported.
    Does anyone know if you can download the integrated google application suite for this phone from anywhere?

    same problem as lizzie and rachael with me. Well sort of. The phone for me is great, just my style and i love it to bits ! but i am also having trouble gettin the pictures onto my computer ? And i really want to get them on soon ? when i connect the USB cable to my computer, the pc suite comes up, but the only icon that is clickable is the music sync, which i have no real interest in using. I try switching the settings everyway i can, such as, mass storage, data service, pict bridge, ive tried them all ! But still no luck!     If you’re going to access all of your funds from your handset, there will definitely be a security issue with people’s tendencies to lose portable items.

    A few laptops are coming onto the market with fingerprint scanning facilities as standard. Perhaps something like this could somehow be incorporated into mobile phone handsets further down the line as an extra security device for mobile banking?

    I am also in DIRE need of a firmware update. Although your manual says the phone supports a 4Gb SD card, i think it barely supports it on a very basic level. My Secret will randomly reboot if i want to browse my pictures, receive or send a text message, take picture.

    My 1st Secret had to be returned as it bricked itself. Flashing an S.O.S message using the initial LG logo.

    My service provider wont change my phone model, only send me a replacement handset, which as you guessed.. is just as inconvenient. For a £250 phone you’d think there would be a little bit more support in the firmware side of things!

    I have a question I hope you might be able to answer. I live in the U.S. and am planning on buying a KC910. I am wondering what I would need to do to if I needed warranty or repair service. I have contacted LG in the U.S. and was told they could not do anything since the phone is not released for the U.S. I would not have a problem sending the phone for repair/warranty out of the country but wonder would the warranty even be valid?     I find google chrome a very useful and fast browser as comparing to internet explorer and firefox. One thing which I have noticed on my computer is that as I use internet explorer and firefox to explore web pages my windows slow down as I open more pages but using google chrome it doesn’t happened! my windows performance increased using google’s new browser CHROME I LOVE IT!

    Hi, is there any possible way i can save my sms / mms messages to my PC. The software provided only lets you view messages but not save them. Either this or can you take away the restriction on msg limits through firmware.

    This looks like a nice phone compared to black version i have. althiugh if this phone comes with al the standard features as the black version i reakon there will be alot of disapionted people. as was i when i got it. just think that for a sophisticated phone as this the software was laking. it didnt really live up to the tv advert.     Using a java midlet, meanwhile a new email arrives -> the KF750 “lock’s” , have to remove battery to be able to use again.

    Hey,

    Finally got round to running the software cd that came with this phone today.
    For some reason however, none of the functions other than the music transferring function are available in the menu of the LG PC Suite..which is really frustrating as all I want to do is put some pics on the phone from my PC.
    Ive checked and it says that the PC-LG connectivity is fine, but the phone doesnt show up on the computer so I cant even send a pic to it directly. Cant understand why its not being acknowledged when the drivers have been dowmloaded.
    Tried on two different computers now and bot having the same problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    - and in my case, the neon lighting doesnt even switch on for left and up,
    and whats the use of a touchscreen mp3 if it takes forever to load
    - also, make ur software open, or atleast release some new themes
    - the cellphone takes good quality pictures, its the camera software tht screws with the lighting and everything

    FIRMWARE upgrade needed badly

    I completely agree about new technology making it easier for families to communicate. Especially when there are time differences involved and it can be difficult to arrange a calling time for family and friends on the other side of the world- the wonders of facebook and email come to light by allowing you to stay in touch whenever is convenient for everyone.

    When can we expect a firmware upgrade for the LT75?
    I recently bought this set for my elderly parents because of the simplicity of recording to hard disk. The bugs which have been mentioned elsewhere, especially those relating to the behaviour of the set when a scheduled recording is about to start, will confuse them.
    On the LT75, when one is watching live TV or a previously-recorded programme and one has scheduled a recording on another channel, the LT75 switches to that channel when the scheduled recording is about to begin and takes one away from the channel one is watching or the programme one has recorded.

    Ok im with a few other guys on here now. My right neon doesnt light up anymore when i press it.
    Also iv figured that it isnt lack of SDHC support that causes random reboots for me. Alot of the time its when the phone is accessing its internal memory when a crash occurs. Such as loading a game from internal memory rather than memory card. Or viewing media thats saved on the phone.

    Does anyone elses neon lights go dim when you push the ‘C’ button? i never noticed it before now, and now i think something else is dying with the phone.

    Upon contacting service provider and insurance company, i can get a replacement, but only the same phone model. If LG dont sort out this obviously very buggy half assed bodge of a phone then it looks like anyone who is tied to a contract with it, is stuck with a problematic high end phone for a long time!

    I have been having the same problem, the LG PC Suite 2 will only connect to my phone for music, on all other settings on the USB on my phone, it keeps saying that it Failed to connect the phone to the pc.

    Is there a fix for this? I have photos on my phone and now have no more room left to store anything else…

    Mine’s ben perfect, low lighting focus is no problem, supports the 4gb SD no problems. the touchscreen MP3 is faultess and fast.

    got mine in the UK, don’t know if that makes a difference, but it’s been great, no faults at all. lovely Phone.

    Hi, my neon lights do not light up or work at all!!! They come on intermittently and then when they are on, they do not respond to any sort of touch. The only way I can SOMETIMES get them working is to slam open the slider and that sort of jolts them into action.

    What a waste of an expensive phone – am very disappointed. I now have a phone I can’t navigate at all. Anyone else getting this problem?

    It sounds like this is a hardware issue, HQ have adviced you take one of the following courses of action:

    either call our call centre on: 08700 505123 and book the handset in for repair, OR book the handset in for repair online via the LG mobile web booking system: http://www.lgrepair.co.uk

    A pre-paid bag will be sent to you once you have for you to return the handset for repair. Normal turn around time should be 5 working days. Unfortunately this does mean you would be phone-less for a couple of days, so you might want to go back to the retailer first and see if they will deal with the repairs and give you a replacement handset in the interim.

    I’ll email you about this too, in case you don’t check here, but thought it might prove handy to have up here for yours and others reference.

    I got the following information from support which might be helpful:

    The KF750 has 4 connectivity modes:

    Mass Storage: When connected to the PC the PC should detect the handset as a mass storage device, files can be transferred to and from the handset using ‘drag & drop’ or ‘copy & paste’.

    Data Service: When connected to the PC the PC should detect the handset as a mobile phone and load the appropriate divers so that the PC sync software may be used.

    Music Sync: When connected to the PC the PC should detect the handset as a ‘Portable device’ e.g. an MP3 player and programs like Windows Media Player will be able to transfer music and videos to the handset.

    PictBridge: When connected to the PC the PC should detect the handset as a PictBridge device and load the appropriate drivers for a digital camera, the handset will be treated by the PC as if it were a digital camera.

    To switch between the various connectivity modes please press the handsets Main menu key in the centre of the touch pad and select -> Settings -> Connectivity -> USB connection mode -> and then select from the 4 available options:

    1 Mass storage
    2. Data service
    3. Music Sync
    4. PictBridge

    Note: The correct mode for using the PC Suite software is: Data service.
    If the handset appears to be in Data Service mode and you are still unable to access all the PC sync functions we would respectfully suggest that the PC sync software may need to be uninstalled and reinstalled.

    If you’ve tried that and it hasn’t worked I suggest you contact them directly via the website – they should be able to give you a quicker and more specific response than we can here: http://uk.lge.com/support/support.jsp

    Been using Windows Mobile for years and am a fan of HTC’s modifications to the GUI. Not sure if LG will be creating their own interface to sit on top of WinMo, but more entrants to / supporters of the WinMo platform are always welcomed! Excited to see what LG has in store!

    I am grateful for you attributing it to a hardware problem. This is my second KF750 with a ‘hardware’ problem and i am concerned that the next KF750 will also have problems. Since my last note, my phone intermittently wont make or receive calls, it receives texts, but doesn’t notify me or show them in my inbox until i restart phone to see 15 messages in inbox, all with appropriate timestamps. Im at the end of my tether with this phone, short of moving to another LG phone of equal or greater value and features, im seriously considering selling it on ebay and buying another brand.

    i have had the phone for 3-4 months and its a great phone…i can download pics, music and everythign…the pc suite is the worst ive ever used…u can’t tell who is sending you the txt because it only shows the number and not the name yet on the contact part ofthe pc suite u see all the information…whats the point of that…its not like u goning to remeber all the names and numbers from your head….very bad very bad..the phone itself is good and ive downloaded games and so forth…its a shame there is no feed back when i have rang many times about the pc suite problem..

    also ive got a 8gb card in my phone from orange and there is no problem with this at all…at the begiing i had the problems with txts being late but i rang orange and told them about it and then they send a txt to me phone and it sorted it all out…other issues i found i have lived with ii.,e when u blooth tooth to ur computer using usb dongle if u turn ur computer of it loses the sestting and u have to do it all again unlike my nokia which would keep it every time…u cant store preserved bluetooth sesttings with this phone

    just to say that i can watch avi, and div x films but u have to use the softwarer that came with the phone (i,e on the pc suite) and then use that to convert the software and then put i on ur phone and it will work fine…many head bangin to getthis sorted but it works fine now…

    the only thing i wonder is has the touch screen got better since the first prada phone? i ended up sending back the 1st prada because the touch screen was terrible to use.

    it’s going to be a tough call between the iphone and this. but i think the iphone might win because of apps.

    ps. i chucked my secret against the wall in frustration (at something else) today and it emerged unscathed. i know that’s not recommended practice, but i was relieved and impressed… in that order

    Hi, I bought this phone after seeing it advertised with the ability to play divx video. I was impressed with the quality of the picture, and video footage is easily viewable. Overall I’ve had almost no problems, bar 1 software issue. Two essential options are missing from the video player, fast forward and rewind!!

    Will ther be an update made available to include these valuable options, as having a video player is pointless if you have to start from the beginning every time, unless you are able to watch the video end to end.

    Does LG provide firmware or software updates, and where do we find them? Software updates are a must have option for any phone.

    Please advise.

    I have the LG Secret 2 and some of the blue LED’ button’s stopped shining. But more of a problem indeed is the firmware.
    1. Firmware is slow
    2. Can’t remove all my sms’s without clearing the whole reserved memory or i have to delete them one by one.
    3. Sometimes it shut’s down for no reason.

    Hello,

    I see that 2 people have raised this issue but it has not been resolved.
    For some unknown reason I don’t receive most of my messages, but when I turn my phone off and on again they are sitting in my inbox (no alert given) with the relevant time stamps. I have received messages 2 days late at times and it is incredibly irritating. I have called Orange and they have been through all the necessary steps to ensure it is not a network issue.
    This is clearly an problem with the phone, but it is not acceptable to not receive message at the time they were sent and 2 days late is a complete joke.

    This has happened with my original LG secret and the replacement I received 3 weeks ago. I have put my SIM into my old phone and had absolutely No problems receiving messages… This clearly highlights that this is not a problem with my service provider.

    I would really appreciate if someone can help me out with this as I am at my wits end… Dialaphone have just offered me yet Another replacement but I am worried I will continue to have this issue with LG Secrets!

    Update people. My Secret died again. Flashing S.O.S using morse code. The LG logo flashing. Called up O2. They dont have the secret in stock (wooohoo) This means i get a new handset of equal or greater value from them as a replacement. Was offered the Samsung Tocco, S.E C902, Nokia N95 or samsung Soul. So iv gone for the Soul. Dont want nothing big too complicated or anything,

    Ironically, i spent 3 weeks deciding, Secret or Soul. Secret has crapped out on me twice, Now i have a Soul.

    Pristyles – I managed to have a play with a handset at the Launch event on Tuesday (while feeling slightly under dressed in the Bond St Prada store..!) The touch screen & UI are great, very responsive and intuitive, to me anyway – it’s always a subjective area, isn’t it?

    Khaled – I don’t think I ever use my phone to talk for more than an hour a day. I bow to your superior talking abilities (or possibly popularity…)

    I’m from Mexico City and have the same problem with incoming text messages, I don’t receive any of them untill I restart my phone.

    Any solution ?

    Also having problems with phone rebooting. Seems to be happening every day now. Either when retieving email or opening network connection from Opera browser.

    Very interested in a firmware update. Wouldn’t it be great if the touch screen was aways enabled, not just in touch media mode.

    yes this is a common problem with the phone that sometimes u wont get txt for a whole day or so and as soon as u restart the phone or wait till the battery has died that a flood of txt’s come through..i fink this is a problem with the phone and something that has to be lived with to be honest..

    Let’s see if LG cant get it’s Mobile Sync connectivity software problems sorted out. The availability of said software, or updates, is shocking with multiple dead links around the world. I have a the KE850, and in moving house, and subsequently having a laptop stolen, I have been unable to locate suitable software to copy SMS messages to my PC for storage for past 2 days.

    I also the hope the case is better made. The word PRADA wore off my phone altogether after 4 months. The rest of the it is covered in tiny scratches. The rim of the phone is unfortunately a very cheap plastic, with thin silver paint on.

    Hope this is all improved in Prada 2

    I followed the instructions from #44, but once I choose the ‘data service’ option, my phone will NOT connect to the computer.

    If I choose mass storage, it will connect, but it will only let me use the music option.

    And if I use that, I can’t even put ONE song on my phone because it says it is full (I got it yesterday and I have not put anything on it yet, so I don’t know why it’s supposedly full..)

    Wow i love it! I have the first prada phone and can’t stand the keypad you have to use to type things out. I love the idea of the pull-out keyboard. In responese to tonez, the prada emblem is also fading very quickly, so perhaps that’s something else to work on. When is this coming out in the US?

    i have realised that if u have a msg on the phone and then not looked at it and then try and connect the phone it wont allow u to…u have to make sure all messages have been read and also there is no caller missed display or that kinda thing on the screen….u can tehn connect the usb or bluetooth it to the phone…(listen to me like im an expert….i just have trialed and error soo much now)

    For the most part I like the viewty/ku990 on contract from 3.

    All is good except for these major things and is why I won’t consider another LG phone like this until they are sorted out.

    1) PC suite – does not sync with Vista and has not been revised as far as I can see.
    2) Because the PC suite does not work with Vista I can not download the messages to the PC – not that other users who have done this find it a pleasant experience anyway. Phone size memory is limited to 300 messages total.
    3) Lastly – the camera images are so heavily processed that any quality captured at 5MP is lost as the quality is so poor. In my experience as a keen photographer – which was the main reason for choosing this phone – i have been very disappointed.

    SO come on LG get your act together and provide some better support for the phone and get me to recommend the phone to others.

    I wanted to transfer some photo’s from my lg secret to my pc.
    I have installed LG PC Suite II but when i go to look into my folders on the phone the message;
    “Fail to connect to the mobile handset, Please check COM port and connect idle screen. Due to multifunction, despite idle screen, it can be failed to connect”
    Then I get disconnected
    Please help me because i’m tied to an 18 month contract for this phone and i need the photos

    Very cool stuff. One thing I noticed about Japan was that the QR / 3D codes were EVERYWHERE. I wish they were as prevalent in the states. Scanning them with my rented camera phone immediately brought me to whatever site dictated. Extremely useful for marketing.

    Its nice to see the barcodes being given some love but there are technical constraints about the amount of white space (quiet zone) required around them. There is certainly no need for them to be ‘boring’ black and white and the white space depends on standards etc. So if you’re planning to produce some more interesting designs I reckon a quick glance over the UPC/EAN standards might be a good idea so that they actually work. BTW you might also like to see http://barcode-plantage.com which animates a tree out of any barcode – fun!

    Hey, I bought the LG Secret on contract a few months ago, great little phone and it was in great working condition for a few weeks, however just recently, I’ve found myself witht he problem, like some others on here, that I have to turn my phone off to get texts that need to come through. This even happens when I have full signal. It’s really strange, and I love the phone so it would be great if I could get around it! Any suggestions?
    Also, the touchpad keys (the little dits) have completely gone, I’m not too bothered about this because its purely visual, the buttons still work, but has anyone else had this problem?

    LG again have dropped the phone.
    They don’t care about any of us. And if they did they would return my countless e-mails I have sent them and FIX the phone.
    Like the Viewty, the phone was supposed to be great, the spec was good and the potential of the phone even better, but LG just don’t see that potential and end up making the phone crap.
    Sorry, but I will NEVER buy an LG phone again unless something is done about the firmware.
    So what does LG have to say about that?
    Or will they just ignore me again?

    I have just bought a 32lg7000 in the UK, partly because, on several sites, including Amazon UK, it is stated that the LCD TV has 100hz, and it has bluetooth. I checked the LG UK website and didn’t see anything to contradict this. However, having got the set it became apparent that the 32″ version does not have 100hz capability. Also, the bluetooth feature is extremely limited. It would have been nice if I could surf the web while watching the results on the screen wirelessly through bluetooth. Had I realised this I would probably have bought an earlier model, as they can be bought much cheaper. Having the 37″ would have enabled me to try the 100hz feature. I think Amazon ought to check their facts more carefully! I note that the manual for the set from LG does indicate that 100hz is not a feature on the 32″, and neither is 24p.

    I have a 42LT75 TV, and am largely very pleased with it. However the issue mentioned by others of changing from the currently viewed programme/recording at the start of a scheduled recording is really quite irritating – a firmware update to deal with this would be VERY welcome. Please let me know if there is such an update, or one in the pipeline!

    Hi there, I’ve been looking for a new phone and did find this Secret a stylish and featured phone. Once I started looking for reviews and feedback in general I found this “official blog” and I’mnot happy with ppl is saying here. Only a couple of users are happy with this phone and software update is a MUST on any phone. I see neither replies by “official bloggers” (about firmware update) nor any decent support whatsoever. I had 2 choices, this Secret or Renoir. Now, I’m inclined to go for another brand, more expensive for sure but in this case money makes a difference. A friend of mine bought the new N96, expensive for sure but inside the CD that came along with the phone “surprise” there is a software update function and he updated it as soon as he installed it. Works like a charm. Having said this, I see no pint in buying any of these 2 LG models as they lack serious and responsible support from LG team….I’l going to spend 200 or 300 euros more (maybe on an SE C905 or N85) but at least I will rest assured that I will always have proper assistance when in need. Boooh for LG, Number 1 in Top 10 Style but number 0 (yes 0 is a number) it professionalism and competence…!!!

    I have recently taken receipt of the LG Sectret phone and I am considering sending it back. There are 4 main problems for me. 1) The battery life is exceptionally poor. 2) The signal strength varies from full to emergency calls only when even when stood still. 3) Every time you exit out of the video recorder, it reverts the settings back to default 4) you seemingly cannot assign functions to the main touch buttons yourself. Any suggestions???

    hello….the problem with the connection is this….u cant have any message that u have noit opened on the phone…make sure that all the messages in ur inbox have been read and then re-connect and u should be fine after this….also make sure that the usb connection setting is on mass device (or soemthing like tha) because this is where the external device will come up on the computer screen for u to copy and paste from…it makes it easier!!!!!

    the phone has got a problem with txts being late and i think thats its something thats a majot issue and needs some type of update to sort out with…how they will do that i aint got a clue but its a problem..aslso the u have to make sure that u have nto got any unread txt message b4 u connect ur phone to copy ur photos…the phone will not allow u to connect if u have..,

    I’m having trouble downloading videos onto my PC. I have 5 videos I have taken, but none of them show up in the “video” folder when I connect the phone to the PC. It doesn’t matter what USB connection I have used.     Pity it’s not viewable via the phone itself (im using it just now to send this comment). I feel LG have let myself and others down by not providing the “full web and multimedia functionality” they promised when marketing the Renoir.

    This feeling seems to a common trend among the majority of users as I’m seeing more and more complaints of lack of support and non-existant firmware upgrades.

    Its a crying shame as well because if it wasnt for some major bugs and flaws (such as the phone randomly rebooting while being used causing the total loss of whatever was being worked on, and the complete inability to play online videos and flash animations plus its incompatibility with the ActiveX objects and flash player needed to run them, to name but a few), it would be the closest competitor the iPhone has ever had!

    Hi, I just received the KC910 phone from a online retailer. Their website and the official specs from your website say this is a quad band phone. But the label on the outside of my box lists the phone as being tri band (no 850 band). I called the company I got it from and they are refunding me in full and said it was their understanding it was a quad band phone. So my question is … Is this really a tri band phone or are there two versions, a tri band and a quad band??? please reply Thanks!!!

    Nobody at LG cares about the people who have already been fooled into buying this phone. They will just drop the phone and go on creating newer and newer ones. They won’t even reply to my e-mails I keep sending them. I am fed up of the lack of support and help and Im fed up of the phone itself. The buttons have now stoped working and the phone constantly reboots for no reason.

    I can join in on the request for a firmware upgrade. In addition to the issues described above, my 32LT75 seems to have an ustable clock which leads to recordings occasionally starting at the wrong time. Try explaining to a four-yo girl that her favorite show has not been recorded (again)… My credibility as a tech-savvy father is going down!

    So… i just recieved my lg secret about 2 days ago, and i had been anticipating this phone for over 2 months, so i was very excited when i got it. However, their seems to be a problem, my lg secret will not turn on when i try to open it, or at least will not coorperate. it takes me a long time trying to turn it on ( i think there is a problem with the battery) and samething when i charge it, unless it is already turned, the charger would not recognize the phone. it gets really frustrating trying to open my phone as it doesnt want to turn on most of the time, i was wondering if anyone else has a similar problem and have some kind of fix or solution to it? Other than that, i am really pleased with its overall functions etc.

    Klyu, this is obviously a faulty handset. I recommend you take it back to the shop/provider you got it from and ask for a replacement, it really shouldn’t do that and they should replace it for you.

    I have the receiving texts problem and my phone is unlocked. I can use it with any network so i have try it with O2, Vodafone, Tmobile and Orange but with all these networks i have had problem with them all, i have also contacted O2 to see if there are ansettings dat i may need to change but that didnt work either. So it must be a problem with the phone not the network what am i to do now?

    The Renoir does look good and I have heard that LG will be making f/w updates for it.
    The secret has a great potential but LG don’t see that. After only 3 months of having it, my phone now randomly re-starts, crashes, freezes, is very slow and even turns off when I plug in the charger/data cable. I have e-mailed LG about this (about 6 time) and they have NOT replied.
    I am getting fed up of the lack of support from LG!
    I notice also that nobody from LG has replied to my posts on here, unlike above. Droped the blog too have they?
    LG WE ALL WANT ANSWERS. Now please?

    I just bought this TV as well. I like the finish and features, but I do agree its a little limited. Bluetooth could have allowed video and the USB is very limited. I bought the TV thinking that I could plug in a USB drive and play back pictures, mp3’s and also videos, but this is not so. I’m very disappointed.

    I have just got 32LG7000 and have to say it is one of best sets I have seen really good on PS3 for Blu-Ray movies Dark Knight looks amazeing in 1080p. I like nice range of inputs for Sky HD and my HD DVD Im one of mad people who has one at £49.99 with 3 free fiilms and it is very good upscale dvd player and works really well I have been outputing 24fps 1080p and can not see any judder on picture at all it seems really smooth no problems with Lip sync on Sky HD wich can be pain with some sets so Im very happy bunny at £349.00 bargain of year love sales after Christmas.

    I have read about a number of cameras that you can toss in the air to take aerial photos, but this cam is more practical in the sense that you use your own camera. Buying a purpose made aerial camera can be costly when the novelty wears off and users discover Google Earth.

    I notice that you have stopped replying to requests regarding firmware updates for the Secret. I find this level of customer service deplorable and intend to sell my LG and replace it with (probably) a Sony Ericsson. I will never buy another LG as long as you fail to provide firmware updates.

According to people who have purchased this tv, those with the firmware 3.06.00 have problems with juddering with the 24p when watching movies.     Hi everyone at LGBlog – Happy New Year.

    My partner got her Christmas wish of a LG Renoir – mostly because of the 8megapixel camera of course.

    However, we’ve been racking our brains over an issue with the wifi -perhaps you can help?

    We’re in the UK on the T-Mobile network. When she tries to connect to the internet, the T-mobile web n’ walk interface launches. We have wireless broadband both here an at her office but I can’t figure how to browse via our wifi rather than the t-mobile web n walk which is charged.

    T-mobile reckoned it couldn’t be done but it seems silly to me to have wifi capability yet not be able to connect via it.

    Can you suggest any options / ways / settings I can explore on the renoir to connect via wifi networks please?

    Much appreciated as I’m in danger of suggesting she gets an iphone ……… and the LG is a cracking phone with test pictures looking amazing so far.

    Got the LG Secret for ma xmas

    Impressed with the phone however one or two things are annoying me about it.

    1) as has already been mentioned, the battery life is poor and it doesnt give you any warning when its about to pack in.

    2) problems with the PC suite adding music, pictures etc, however I bought a memory card for it so I can transfer all my files that way so its not a major issue.

    The issue with the battery is quite annoying. I had a sony ericsson k800i cybershot before this phone and it’s probably one of the worst phones i’ve ever used, however I am currently getting the same amount of battery time on the secret as I was from a 2 year old Sony erricsson battery.

    Not too impressive. I’ve tried all the things suggested like turning the backlight on to auto brightness but that doesnt make a difference at all.

    Touch media is good fun however and the music player and sound from the phone is excellent.

    I installed the PCSuite II but it would not connect. I then removed the application and my computer does not even recognise that the phone is plugged in through the USB port?

    All this and the phone is charging when connected. Why won’t PC Suite or my computer recognise the phone? Please help

    I am with everyone else, the phone has so much potential but it is probably the worst phone I have ever owned! It just drops signal all the time even when standing still and the battery life and indicator is just a joke!

    Nevrmind, I just bought a brand new Pixon and it’s way better than the Renoir. It’s one of the best buys I have ever made. At the shop they guaranteed me regular updates of firmware and Samsung doas have a reputation. Too bad, one less LG you guys sold!!!! It did cost 504 € but I do not regret it, it’s an amazing piece of both software and hardware.

    If your screen was damaged when you received it you should take it back to your provider for an exchange. I’m not sure if it is possible to change the screen.     If changing the browsing profile to WiFi doesn’t do the trick I suspect that the only option available to you would be to have the handset de-branded. Be warned though that de-branding and/or unlocking a mobile handset will probably void it’s warranty.

    Branded firmware often includes ‘ugly’ additions to the user interface as well as restrictions aimed at limiting or disabling some handset functionality. I suspect that in an effort to solicit uptake of their paid-for web ‘n’ walk service T-Mobiles has tampered with the WiFi functionality.

    I have just bought a 60PG70FR. Great monitor, very stylish but I can’t get any of the HDMI ports working.

    I have tried various cables which have all been version (1.3 a,b,c) compliant but the input display only shows “No Signal”

    I have tried hooking up a PS3 and a HP dv-5 1070ce Laptop via 3 different HDMI cables and always get the same “No Signal” from all 3 ports.

    Can anyone help?

    Hi Sarah, you have 3 options in this instance:

    1) Contact their original retailer who may offer to exchange the handset (subject to their terms and conditions) or arrange for the handset to be sent away for repair. The retailer may be able to offer a loan handset while the customer handset is away for repair.

    2) call our call centre on: 08700 505123 and book the handset in for repair. A pre-paid bag will be sent, return your handset in the pre-paid bag and once repaired the handset is returned. Normal turn around time should be 5 working days.

    3) book their handset in for repair online via the LG mobile web booking system: http://www.lgrepair.co.uk A pre-paid bag will be sent, they return their handset in the pre-paid bag and once repaired the handset is returned. Normal turn around time should be 5 working days.

    There is no loan handset available should you go with options 2 or 3. Hope that helps!

    I’m using my LG Secret as a business phone, syncing my calendar with Outlook. My challenge with the phone is that I often have reminder alarm on my calendar entries in Outlook – these are copied to the phone.

    Reminders are fine, but I want to turn the audible bell off – being woken up in the middle of the night is really irritating. There is no setting for this, and the used bell (alarm.mp3) is a build-in file which I cannot delete from the memory.

    Any help to turn audible bell for reminders off will be greatly appreciated.

    I ordered a 42LG7000 online in the sales, and have been waiting for the TV to come back into stock. Just the other day I received an email from the retailer to inform me that LG won’t be restocking them, and would I like to buy a TV from a competing manufacturer?
    And this, after debiting my account for the total amount over two weeks ago.
    The retailer is a large well-known one, so I’m surprised that they would no longer be stocking such a current TV.

    Our 42LT75 also has frequent problems with freezing, sometimes with sound and sometimes without. At its worst, this happens several times a day. We also have occasional recordings fail – they appear in the record list, but with a duration of 1 second, and show a message about a timer problem when we try to play them. We also find that the automatic switching of channels at the start of a recording utterly infuriating. Otherwise it has been superb – really happy with the easy picture quality and ease of use. But a firmware upgrade to cure these glitches would be greatly appreciated.

    My lg secret which I have had for less than a week crashes at least twice a day and also will turn itself off even during use and with a fully charged battery according to the onscreen icon.
    Also sometimes tells me my memory card is not inserted and same with my sim card. Both work fine in my work mates secret.
    While replacing the sim earlier I noticed that the indicators for water damage are both pink. The closest i have been to water with my phone is walking to work in the rain but I keep my phone in a case in the inside pocket of my coat. The LG has been an enormous let down!

    This phone is a great phone! I was using a Nokia N82 previously. After getting this phone, i never thought a LG could be this good. The 8MP camera is amazing. You can also edit ur pictures immidiately and got lots of tools to use. Although there’s a little lag while opening a folder, it’s still smooth. Sometimes when u unlock the phone from key lock, the lag makes it nice, like you see the image and the keys slowly appears. It’s a great phone! Never regret getting this. My rating for this phone is 9/10

    Any news on a firmware update to solve the “changing from the currently viewed programme/recording at the start of a scheduled recording” problem?
    Another new problem is getting more frequent – when I turn the TV on I often get no no picture, only sound, which can only be solved by repeted on/off cycles.

    Any sign of the imormation promised for firmware update for helping solve the problems I outlined on 8th Nov 2008? My warrenty is due to end and if the upgrade is not forth coming I will have no alternative but to return…. Which I dont reallly want to do as I do like the TV, but also know that nobody yet is able to solve these problems. Meaning the TV having to be replaced, BUT LG do not produce them anymore. Why have they stopped making this model? Anything to do with all the faults that occur with them? A honest answer would be appreciated. I honestly love the TV, I think it could/would be one of the best on the market if not for the annoying faults.

    A quick response would be appreciated, as I said my qarrenty is running out soon….. Which has remind me of another question.. By law do all manufacturers have to give a standard 3 year warrenty with all electrical goods even though the retailer only give you 1? I would like your view on that in the meantime I shall investigate that too, lets see if we come up with the same answer :)

    Hi.

    Unfortunately, when we’d finally figured out how to get the pictures off the LG onto the PC (by getting a card reader!), we discovered the pictures were truly awful – her old Motorola Razr took better.

    Mandy is a photographer and works with digital photo files all day so it wasn’t a case of an in-experienced user.

    It was the icing on the proverbial xmas cake and the whole lot was bundled up and sent back to T-Mobile (who were very helpful) for a full refund (which has since been issued).

    A very sorry affair indeed.

    P.S. On the wifi question – apparently, T-Mobile reckoned that it cost nothing to ‘browse’ their online portal – it only cost when you went off to another site or downloaded games or music etc. There was no way to make a direct connection with our router – everything had to go via their online interface.

    Thank god i got an iphone.

    I am beginning to think all these smart phones are a let down. none comes close to the experience of simply picking up some one elses iphone and just using it.
    I was given a nokia n96 sent it back too tricky to work out.
    I now have the renoir.
    the internet is very backwards so many web pages dont work?
    the speakers are not good or is there a dolby switch hidden some place certainly the sound isnt up to my 2 year old N73.
    the GPS is a con trick look out for this everyone it is not free to use! EEK
    the renoir is though easy to use and for that reason its a keeper.

    I bought new 42LG7000 but it has many bugs with truemotion. It is unusable with blueray, ps3 or PC because makes frame drops or similar artifacts. There are other image processing problems. Maybe somebody know if LG is going to fix them with firmware or continues to tell us only about doubtful awards?

    i’ve already posted on this blog about the poor battery life and problems with the PC suite.

    Now coming to realise the quality of pictures for a 5 megapixel camera is embarrasing. A lot of ma friends have got brand new fones and the picture quality is stunning on theirs. I had a 3.2 megapixel sony ericsson cybershot and picture quality was 10 times better without question. Video quality is, however, excellent, but I would say Its more important for me to have a good picture than a vid. I’ve mucked about with the settings but was very annoyed when my friend who had the lg viewty (an older model) showed me the quality of his pictures and as much as I try to alter the settings, cant get a picture anywhere near the quality of the viewty. (Pictures blur, cant seem to lock on to an image, light quality is a bit poor also)

    The LG secret is becoming a complete mess of a phone and every day there are new things that annoy me about it. Games and touch media are fun, but are just gimmics.

    The practical aspects of this phone are not ideal and compared to the viewty, the touch screen/control buttons are a lot more unresponsive. Think I’m going to have to speak to my service provider to exchange this phone for another model.

    Sorry guys, big let down, but in fairness to LG, there are other phones like the renoir and the viewty that are 10 times better. I’d go with them

    I bought one of the sets from a well known store (Boxing Day offer). The sound suddenly cuts out. There have been severaql sets with this problem so therefore they will not accept any more and lots of peoplr with orders have been told to choose an alternative. I can not exchange my set for the same model but can choose an alternative replacement v(plus pay any differance in price). Apart from the sound cutting out the set was good but will swop as it may worsen as the set gets older

    Gutted, absolutely gutted, is the way Im feeling at the moment and my phone hasnt even arrived yet. I went for this phone as they had a very good offer on price from my local provider, now I know why. Im just praying to God that mine wont be one of the crappy ones out there. Like a lot of people say on here, the Secret has so much potential and “STYLE THAT LATS” but its no bloody good if you dont have the software to go with it, how can it last?     I too have an issue with the phone randomly turning itself off when it wants to! It will work fine for a few days and then it will turn itself off and the only way to turn it back on is to remove the battery. This is my first LG phone and while I like the design, all that doesn’t matter if the phone keeps turning itself off! LG – if you are listening…please fix this!

    Battery life at 3-4 days is useless. Bluetooth downloads crash the system and you have to power down and loose all your settings to get back in. LG just say oh a software problem send it back.how many times do I have to send it back before you send me one that works??

    I feel obliged to add that there is a similar service offered by a group actually called Freecycle – http://www.uk.freecycle.org/
    It’s much more localised and doesn’t have the flashy website but I’ve been a member for a while and almost got a free inflatable pirate ship last year (no I don’t know what I wanted it for, I just did!)

    I have tried all of the PS3 video solutions from the playstation website and I have even replaced the PS3, but still no picture.

    Personally, I think this us the year we see a major push of smart phones becoming more mainstream instead of targeted toward the niche and business class models as such, we could see a broad acceptance of the Federal Broadband initiative that President Obama is trying to get on his desk. This could very well be the bill that America needs ( in addition to creating numerous jobs), as it should move the U.S. Back to the top 5 in terms of speed as opposed to the lowly ~17th we presently reside in with many counties much faster than us.

    If it works, we should see the streaming of numerous new shows and the creation of strong B2B business as well as a revolutionary movement in terms of remote education and learning. It could also ( broadband initiative ), change the telcom business model as we now it which ironically, is the main cause for not creating cutting edge content and the continued lobbying for anti- federal deregulation as this would eat away at their stranglehold of the consumer profits.

    Yes, Freecycle is a great network that’s been doing good things for a few years. My problem is that we all have to use yahoo groups which means loads of emails that we have to read one by one. It’s a cumbersome process that takes time and many folks out there who would like to give things away don’t bother.

    Reyooz tackles that issue and makes it easy, that’s why it was built.

    An inflatable pirate ship would be cool though, no ;-)

    Thanks for the write-up about our little app. We don’t see ourselves in competition with Freecycle, though we’d very much like the Freecyclers to check us out and list some items on our service too.

    We have developed an API for the application too, which allows any developer to write widgets or add-on software for Reyooz, e.g. a facebook app, iPhone app or google widget. People could even add a page to their blog with a mini-map of stuff they’ve given away recently.

    The aim is to get everyone involved at a grass-routes level, so thanks for the shout-out!

    Not quite sure if this is the right place to ask a Q? but here goes.

    I am now on my 3rd LG TV. The 1st was a 42LG7000 LCD purchased on 26 Dec 2008, The 2nd and 3rd are 42PG6010 Plasmas purcashed on 25th of Jan 2009 and 14 of Feb 2009 respectively.

    I am experiencing the same ‘intermittent’ sound loss on each set. The retailer has changed the TV’s no problem but I can’t help thinking that either i’m unlucky or their is an inherant fault with LG TV’s.

    The sound loss happens at any time whilst watching Sky or a DVD (both are about 8 years old) and is easily restored if I switch between inputs or alter the sound settings within the ‘Q menu’ function. I have purchased expensive gold scart leads and they fit tight and snug into the ports.

    I’m looking for a possible answer rather than another TV exchange. please help with my frustrating problem.

    I have put the photos off of my handset onto my computer, now after doing this some of my photos went missing and others started going funny like they were tiled pics like an error pic.
    Now when i send the pics to other phones this does not happen so i no its a fault with the phone.

    It’s too early to tell if the phone will be slow at launch. The UI software is probably at an early beta stage. I think the Arena looks to be an exciting prospect, the cube UI in particular looks very interesting.

    The phone is VERY FAST! I do not understand why djk is spewing misinformation?!
    It does not use a closed OS. SDK’s are gladly distributed to any developers who request them. The OS supports java so any existing java apps can easily be ported.
    I had an in depth look at the phone last week and it is very impressive.

    Got the 42LG7000 in December.. Verdict? The worst television I have bought ever. Pixmania will not honour a refund as they say LG should be given a chance to try to repair the tv under warranty, but it doesn’t do what it says on the box/adverts/LG marketing.

    The list of problems:
    1) Blueray playback via HDMI is useless – when watching 1080p 24 films – the picture judders like an underpowered windows computer.
    2) The “Dolby Digital Optical Output” function on the tv’s “Audio” menu doesn’t even work – just gives a standard stereo sound output, to my cinema audio processor! (Possible dodgy HDMI Circuits/software in the tele)
    3) Real Cinema mode makes the picture 100% worse.
    4)Trumotion was said to be better than 100hz.. It’s actually makes the pictures even worse with judder even on normal tv and sky,

    In short, I’ve disconnected it, and awaiting the outcome of the probe my local trading standards is carrying out on the sale (and subsequent fast “discontinued” status being put on the sets by LG.) Also reported to my credit card company to, who are trying to get me a refund.

    I bought my 32LG7000 on Boxing Day, but got it delivered only in Mid-Jan as was moving home (during this time I turned down two bookings). The new TV worked fine, and was pleased with it (of course the USB and Bluetooth capability are not something to laud about really). But overall, was quite happy, till about last Tuesday, when my freeview channels all went dead. On screen was a prompt ‘No Signal’. On calling the dealer, and explaining the problem, I was told that the in-built freeview mechanism would need to be replaced (so much for DTVs with in-built freeview).

    And as my TV had completed more than a month, no replacement could be offered. I’m waiting for the technician to come and replace the part, apparently parts are out of stock, and the wait can go upto 21 days :-(

    So I now wait … (at least LG could have created the screen with a mirror finish, could have used the TV as a stand-by mirror)

    How do I sync my outlook 2007 details to the KC910

    The PC Suite does not appear to support outlook 2007 – only 2000-2005 – I want all my contacts and outlook calender to work with the phone.

    Can someone please help as I thought a phone as new as this should have a PC suite capable of connecting to outlook 2007 – there seems to be zero feedback to different users with the same issue. perhaps this is to do with LG now adopting WM6.5 – but surely this is a simple mail.exe excutable that could be applied to PC suite which gets calender, contacts and todo from a standard outlook 2007 install.

    This is my only bug bearer (an important one for as i need data from work on my phone)

    If Lg does not make any public updates (because there are leaked fw, but you need an special cable to flash it) is going to loose a lot of customers and any companyu doesn’t want that, every people i know hate it because it is too slow, it takes shitty pictures when theres no light (room, club, etc.). I’m regretting of gettin this phone because i wanted to buy a cybershot but i thought that this was a good phone, well i was wrong, i wont ever buy any lg electronics until this gets fixed

    Everyone note you can get a Prada Link watch from Expansys.

    The one I ordered arrived today and i’ve been playing with it. I must say the Prada Link is so cool, and the range on the bluetooth can get up to 10 meters easily. It is also waterproof to 30meters though I don’t think i’ll be testing that out.

    Everyone in my office is super jealous.

    I have recently purchased an unclocked lg secret from amazon.com.I am using it in Trinidad and Tobago. Had some problems configuring the MMS and Internet settings as the service provider in my country does not support LG mobiles, anyhow… i did get the settings eventually and i am now able to browse the web, however, i am trying to download gmail mobile application to the phone but as soon as download begins, it stops and says Network service is lost!! However..when I look at my reception, all the bars are up!! any ideas?

    I bought my LG Secret in november of last year. The first thing I noticed was about a 1 second delay whenever I used the neon touch buttons. About a week in I was writing an sms and the screen colours randomly inverted and the phone reset. I put it down to a one off glitch but then it started doing it more and more often. I also noticed that the camera was locked on focusing at about 10cm. With all this I called LG and they suggested I take it in for a look at a repair centre. They took my phone for about 2 weeks, but when I got it back they had fixed the camera focus problem and it appeared they had fixed the other issues too…alas after about another week my phone reset during sms and has continued doing so randomly. The delay is there also, though I can kind of deal with it but would be better if it were fixed. Perks that the camera stayed fixed though! Thinking about going to the repair centre again but haven’t had the chance!
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Further update to my earlier post on Feb 23 -

    Got a call from the retailer explaining that the part was unavailable due to which LG has offered a replacement of the TV and that I would receive a letter in a few weeks about this.

    Now I was quite happy to hear this, until I phoned the retailer on next-steps, where it was communicated that I will get a replacement of the same value if the TV was unavailable. Also, in case the TV was unavailable or it’s price has changed then I’d have to pay for the difference. I called a store to understand availability of the TV. To my surprise the model was available for home delivery and at a higher price.

    All this leads me to believe that if same model TVs were being manufactured, then -
    1. the components for those are also manufactured, which means the part can be easily replaced OR
    2. the TV can be replaced completely as it is being assembled for sale and is in stock

    It seems very contradictory about the availability of parts, and is sending out mixed messages – will the TV be taken back only to have it’s part replaced and then sold to another consumer for a higher price? While I receive a TV of another brand, whose value is what I had paid for the LG?

    Is there a consumer forum here in the UK that reviews such issues?

    Hi Raymond, Sorry to hear you’re having these problems. I’m afraid we can’t really help – sounds like an issue at the retailers end rather than LG’s but regardless we don’t have access to the systems and knowledge the LG support team have so aren’t equipped to provide customer support.

    What I can suggest is you look at forums such as http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/ which might be able to help you and/or get in touch with LG support directly to try and clarify the situation; it might make it easier to negotiate with your provider.

    By slow i mean it take to much time to access functions, not slow by bad hardware, interface take time to show the page you want, too much effects, it’s nice but i don’t want something nice, i want something fast to call rapidly my contacts. And for sdk i mean sdk for interface moding or widgets creation, not java, java is not usefull on these phones, i own a Renoir and no documentation about modifying interface or create widgets, need hacking for that. Java loose a portion of screen on touch screen phone, for emulated keys, so better to wrote an application on native Os langage. Lg is know by some users/devs to not distribute documentation about that.

    It didn’t seem slow to me, certainly it was comparable to any similar device I’ve used and I didn’t find myself waiting around for things to happen. (except the first time into the media player)

    As to an SDK, who knows? I’ve not heard one way or the other yet whether they’ll open it up. They did mention a download store at the launch so I presume there must be some way of getting apps on there! (anybody from LG want to comment on that?)

    I bought a Secret as a present for my father. It’s a constant embarrassment because of its 1001 bugs. The PC software is also pretty poor. You have lost two customers forever, and I’m busy telling everyone I know that LG does *not* support its products. Very silly, LG! Very silly!

    I don’t think I’ll buy an LG product again. They shouldn’t sell it in Asia if their support will be limited to UK customers. The reception is worse than my previous phone. I have never managed to use the wifi for more than loading a single page before it completely stops loading anything until a reboot. The GPS isn’t able to be used by any application other than the Jogging Buddy. The interface is very slow. At times, the tilt sensor stops working completely. I’ve warned my classmates about this phone, and now I’m posting here to try to warn potential buyers of the very real flaws. A friend and I bought our phones just over a month ago, and we both have had an identical experience (I exchanged my handset a few days after I bought it, because I thought the wifi issue was a hardware issue on my first unit.) Don’t buy this phone.

    i have a 42lt75 lcd have had tv for 15 month tele started to freezes plus recording but would only get 1 minute recorded that happened after 12 months. but luck would have i took out break down cover so it went away and had new hard drive. now 3 months on it doing it again can you help not very happy

    worst phone you could ever buy reasons are;

    - the battery life is rubbish
    - camera is worse than the first ever camera phones
    - the pc suit doesnt even work right
    - and the most annoying thing is it doesnt recieve calls or texts most of the time and you have turn your phone off for 5mins till you know you have got them but how are you ment to know you have a text waiting for you if you have no notice of this and plus it aint the service because i have tried a orange a O2 and a t-mobile sim in mine and my friend has a vodafone one his has the same problem

    lg are the worst mobile phone company for trying to get this phone sorted they dont even understand the meaning of customer service so never buy a lg ever because if you have problems your on your own they wont fix it they aint intrested after you have bought the phone or is it just they dont know what they are doing and dont know how to repair a fault they have so they just try and hide and hope it will all blow over

    Just got my Prada II and I’ve got to say it’s a marked improvement over the original….but…. i’m a little perplexed by the screensaver!
    Can anyone tell me if there is a way to disable it?? Scoured the manual but to no avail!
    My main concern is getting my phone out down the pub to be the envy of my mates… only to end up the subject of ridicule as my phone proudly displays a pair of ladies Prada shoes from the embedded Prada catalogue!!
    Please tell me there is a way round this……

    Has anyone had any lucj getting their LT75 fixed. I’ve got similar problems 10months into the waaranty. Have just reported to LG and am awaiting a service engineer to make an appointment.

    Is this a case of it’s going to take a long time to find they can’t fix it, and then a long time to wrangle over getting my money back?

    Hope not… love the TV (if it didn’t have the bugs!).

    My father in law, has an LG 32lx2r 32″ LCD which he’s had approximately two and a half years, quite a large are is covered with a grey/black shadow, from experience of screen burn I would say its not that, because of the size and shape of it.

    Further to the above comments my in-laws have suffered the same problems with a LT75 42″ with picture freezing, unable to record programmes etc which appears to be related to the issues above. Obviously the software needs updated to rectify this however as the problems began approx 14 months after purchase LG Customer Services will not do this under the manufacturers warranty. We have been quoted over £360 by a company for 12 mth warranty and repair which is more than half of the original cost of the TV!! Is there no way that we can take the TV to an LG Service Centre, pay a (reasonable) fee to have the software updated and hopefully resolve the issue? If not our next step will be to start contacting consumer rights organisations as to me this seems like a widespread fault and not a one off. My in-laws love the functions of this TV otherwise and have found it really straightforward to use however they are understandably disappointed and annoyed that it is now not working correctly. Any assistance you can provide will be much appreciated.

    I’m having similar problems with my 32LT75 – freezing, power on with sound only, missed recordings etc.

    I think it’s now out of warranty although It started months ago. Clearly a design/firmware fault and I’ve contacted LG and expect them to upgrade/fix it!

    I’m waiting to hear back……

    It’s a massive convieniencehaving ‘built in’ pause/record. But the bugs and faults are becoming too much for me!

    Btw – for anyone not sure who Ada Lovelace is (had 2 people in the office ask since this went live – nice to know you’re reading guys!) Ada was actually Ada Byron, the countess of Lovelace. She is often cited as the “first programmer” having written codes for Charles Babbage’s analytical engine, the first computer. Although he never got it to work in his lifetime scientists have since built a working machine from his designs. (Thank you QI!)

    Being a recent convert to lg products after getting my girlfriend the first Prada handset I have to say I’m impressed. The origional Prad was a pretty good handset if a little low on spec compared to other handsets available at the time but I guess tehat was the off-set for having the touch screen, she loved it by the way. I ended up having the Viewty handset myself a little later and thought it was awesome, nice quality feel to the casing, great response on the touch screen and brilliant for taking pictures/video clips at gigs. I now have the Secret and I’m equally impressed by this sleek and stylish handset, though for some reason the oled lights are failing one by one after less than a year. I’m thinking about up-grading to the Renoir but may wait for the Arena though I’ve heard it only had a 5 mega pixel camera. My girlfriend is also awaiting the release of the Prada 2 on O2, hope its soon. All in all though great handsets, I’ll be awiting developements with interest.

    I had a 7500 LG hard drive/dvd recorder from new, after 6 months i had to send it back because of the “please wait” displaying on the front fault, LG sent me another one, 2 months later the same thing, then one month later the same thing i had FOUR of them!! the last one i had also went the same but was 3 days after the 12 months warrenty, LG didnt want to know!

    Its amazing how things have a knock on effect as ive just today bought not one but two Panasonic 37″ LCD TV’s and would not buy LG ones because of the above! its a shame aswell because the LG one loooked good but looks arent everything!

    Your probably not bothered as im sure two LCD screens is nothing to LG!! and im pretty sure you wont post this on your blog!

    I am also having problems with my 32LT75. After about 20 minutes of use it will sort of ‘crash’. I can’t change the channels or use the dvr function, however the volume and menu functions still work. Also, sometimes it will ‘crash’ whilst recording something, and at these times it never stops recording – I have to pull the power socket out! It’s becoming very annoying – a shame because otherwise it would be an excellent TV.

    It’s now 16 months old (7 months of which it had no use as I was out of the country) so LG customer services won’t do anything about it, apart from tell me to do a ‘factory reset’, which doesn’t work. It’s had this fault for the last 2 months.

    Annoyingly I had a 3 yr warranty on it from Empiredirect, but they’ve just gone bust, so its worthless! I would consider paying for a repair, but with the number of complaints here I’m concerned it might just go wrong again!

    Is LG aware of these problems – do they know of a simple solution (e.g. firmware upgrade?) and are they willing to assist with repair costs? I would be grateful for an LG response or from anyone who has had some luck? Thanks

    I have the LG Cookie (KP500) mine does the same. Sometimes its because your have a corrupt file and your phone will turn off. Just delete the file turn your phone off and on and the volume should be back to normal.

    I have the LG KM900 ARENA – its the best phone in the world, i have had it for 2 weeks now and i love it to bits

    Its my iphone killer .. for sure.

    I can say 1 million great things about this phone but only a couple of bad things.

    Bad things are – no Xenon flash – led not bright enough

    not a 8MP shooter or even 12 like the coming soon – Sony Ericsson Idou.

    slow internet – i think LG needs a faster internet processor or something

    plus the most important thing for me is that there is not led control – i mean there should be a software, where you can turn the led on without go to the video camera – this is because i use the led as i use it a lot for working in dark places. – this was on my old phone (Sony Ericsson W810i)

    I have it since 5 days. I think it is rather disappointing. Issues I have:

    *GPS is not functioning, not in Google Maps (which came pre-installed) and not in 3 navigation apps I downloaded
    *It resets itself frequently: just turns itself off and on. Why? Dont know. Annoying? Yes!
    *The browser is slow and using drop downs or touching small buttons is cumbersome (even when zoomed in)
    *When in landscape mode (qwerty): on screen keyboard keys are way too small and mis-typings are frequently happening
    *The reaction of the phone when wanting landscape view (or portrait) is too slow (or too fast if you DONT want it to change),
    *I have almost no widgets I can add (ok, that has probably to do with my provider)
    *The contacts list can only have one type of view (first or last name). No other way of categorizing, which is very annoying with a large contact persons database
    *Cube of the navigation system is not adjustable: the images on the small cube are fixed and not reflecting my contacts/content
    *Youtube cannot be accessed from WiFi, only from UMTS
    *WiFi: you cannot set a preferred network. You have to specify it over and over again.
    *Support is non exisitent: no FAQ, no forum, no nothing.

    I hate to be this negative, but the truth must be told…

    LG Arena KM900
    This is a review of my new LG Arena KM900 mobile phone.

    I live in Denmark, but bought the phone in Germany, since there were quite a price reduction – around 100€.

    It replaced my old trustie, an rather old phone, Nokia 6230i (yes, very oldie), so it was about time for an update in the mobile field.

    I choose this phone because of the many features, and because, there is no keys on the front. I also chosed it because of the 5M pixel camera, even though i’ve read some other customers didn’t think it was very good.

    First impression, was, that it was nice, simple an easy for the eye. I would have prefered, if there where no logo on front of it, but I guess that its it’s a company branding thingy…

    Instead of saying alot about what the phone does, which you can read in many other reviews, i will tell what it doesn’t do, or atleast what i would expect that it did, but as it turns out, does not do!

    WiFi

    - It does not not change automatic between WiFi and 3G. One have to change this manual for both Java programs and the build in browser, EVERY TIME!!

    - It does not allow the streaming option to work with the WiFi, meaning, you can’t stream Youtube, from WiFi!

    - You can’t use the phone as a router from WiFi to 3G – Would be awsome if it was possible, connecting to you phone through wireless, and then go on internet with you laptop. But you should be able to use the phone as a modem through bluetooth.

    Browser

    - Not very fast a.k.a. very slow!

    - Small links is a pest!! Not very easy to catch, you have to zoom a lot.

    - A lot Javascript based links, doesn work before whole page is loaded. (i.e. on http://www.dba.dk)

    - Adobe Flash does not work in browser, I’ll gues that neither does Microsoft Silverligth!

    - If phone is on horizontal angle, and the address bar is clicked, one has to turn it vertical, and then back horizontal to have qwerty keyboard, and the when you click OK, it turns back to vertical automatic, and then you have to click goto button to load webpage. Hereafter you can then then turn the phone back horizontal – Alot turning the phone….. hmmmm.

    Google tools

    - I use Google Apps, for my domain (a special google service), and this is not supported, so it is only the freeware gmail, and not the Google Apps..

    - Likewise, there is NO google calender, email OR contact syncronization. I personaly would have prefered if this would work over Exchange ActiveSync protocol, but of course is a matter of personal preferences.

    - The two finger pinch zoom in/out does’nt work in google maps, or any other Java midp application.

    - Not possible to update Google Maps. because this somewhat integrated into the Arena, and therefore it is not alloweable to overwrite aktual installation – Thus not able to update google maps.

    Java
    - Can’t run games or programs (including java programs) when in MyMusic (the media player). The first thing i did, was download an java mipd application that could calculate traveling speed and distance, on behalf of the GPS. But you cant use this at the same time as you are listening to music. This sucks, if you would like to both hear music AND know you speed and running distance, when running, or using the bike.

    Calendar

    - No intuitive way to enter year of birth for birthdays.

    - When making a new schedule, it starts by suggesting 01.00 o’clock as start and end time for each schedule, so if most of the schedules happens between 08.00-20.00, then you have to scroll alot in the time.

    - Does not automatic suggest an endtime of schedules depending on start time. Always suggest 01.00 o’clock for end of schedules. Would have been nice with an time offset.

    Interface / Navigation

    -It takes around 10-60 seconds before it locks the screen. This is somewhat annoying, especially because, one can’t unlock it just by pressing the screen, but one needs to press either the power button (which also works as lock/unlock) or vol+- followed by a long press and hold on the screen.

    - There isn’t a fancy way to “go back” (like to fingers moving left or something iPhonish). You have to press a dedicated top-right area on the screen. No movement controlling this.

    - Calculator, doesn’t turn, when the phone turns. Only works vertically.

    - Can only have 9 shortcuts on the shortcut screen (1st. cube screen.)

    - Snooze and stop alarm options is VERY close to each other. very easy to press one instead of the other, when being waked up…

    - No option, for making alarm start with low volume, then increasing, making a soft wakeup.

    - When in snooze mode, there is no easy way to disable alarm. One has to make 3-4 clicks on screen to stop the alarm.

    - Only favorites, can be access at the cube screens, no automatic navigation between folders etc. i.e. no tree view of file structure

    - You can’t make a folder, album, Artist or Playlist and “favorite”

    - Only way to use the flash diode light as a flashlight is by entering cameramode and hold down the camerabutton in focus mode, or enter video recording mode and turn on videolight.

    - When zoom out the cube, the cube has pictures of other people, that i don’t even know!! Thus it seemes like it isn’t real dynamic content on the cubes.

    - Can’t use touch screen for the flash lite games i installed, meaning no interaction, meaning not possible to use them

    - Can’t do anything else, but stop player, when playing music directly from the cube’s shortcut to favorites of media. Meaning, if the number is selected from 4th cube interface, you can only control the player. To do anything else (sms, email, whatever) you have to stop the music, so no multitasking in this state.

    - Profile / Contact pictures has to be located in image root folder, which is kind of un userfriendly, when trying to have structure in the pictures. These pictures, should be in a dedicated folder.

    Musikplayer

    - Can’t fast forward/rewind in musik players

    - Music player doesn’t have any memory, meaning that everytime, the music stops, you cant resume from where it had reach, neither in one number, and neither in playlist. This is kind of frustrating, if you are playing a playlist, and then exits the player to take a picture (can’t play media and take picture or java apps at the same time), then going back into the player, you have to start from scratch.

    - Poor playlist control.

    - Can’t narrow down the number, so if i.e. 16Gb of music, means very many files, but if you only can select either by artist, album, favorites, or all, then it’s very poor navigation. You can’t first select artist, and then narrow down further by album. You can only select either album or artist which is frustration if you have alot of music.

    Hardware

    - Earplugs are transporting external sound whenever the cord touches anything. It’s very noicy, and not very nice, when walking or running.

    - Screen not very sunlight friendly.

    - Camera flash, not very good in dark rooms.

    - Should be capable of using 32GB microSD, but at this time, no such size available in stores….

    - Might have TV out capabilities, but there follows no accessories allowing you to connect the phone to a tv. Guess, this is something one has to buy seperate, when it gets available.

    - Properitary USB interface, meaning, you can’t connect the phone with any standard usb2usb cable.

    - Can’t get stand-alone GPS to work inside. Has read more places that others have great problems with this to.

    Games

    - M-Toy, No real enjoyment. A tabletennis bat, with which one can shoot the ball up in they air, just to do it again, and again and again. A Wheel of fortune game, where you can get the wheel to rotate – havent found of if it does anything else, but i don’t think so. A dice game, wher you can through some dice’s, and move a piece over some heart – a VERY teen/puberty mentality game – No fun!! Games SUCKS a.k.a Wii super light!

    Syncronise

    - Can’t sync with iSync on mac, neither through USB or Bluetooth – Might be me who can’t get it to work (I am only a professionel IT-Engineer), but i’ve read other places, that it doesn’t support iSync, even though there is an iSync plugin on the CD, and when it connects by USB.

    - PC Sync, has a bug, in that it cannot save email in the form firstname.middlename.lastname@whatever.tld

    - faulty import in PC syncroniser, when importing vCards from Google, if danish letters.

    - Drops middle names (everything after space) in names, and doesn’t import some numbers when this happens

    - Does not import all phone numbers from exported google vCards.

    Read other places on web:

    - Poor FM sender quality – Needs to be withing something like 30cm without windshields between (I haven’t verified this)

    - Grainy picture quality, with very sharp edges (I haven’t verified this)

    - Bad picture in dark / Poor flash (I have this too)

    - Poor screen in direct sunlight (I have this too)

    - Troubles with GPS (I have this to with stand-alone GPS, when inside. No problems with A-GPS)

    - Restarts unmotivated. (I haven’t got this)

    come on LG you’ve made a phone that can compete with the iphone now i’m sure i’m not the only one in feeling having the arena has been so far quite an empty experience, please sort out an apps store then you can make a real dint in the iphones market dominance and we as customers can use the phone to it’s yet to be seen potential, we need more, like games that use the accelarometer and other fun applications

    Had my phone for about 3 weeks. Features are good except if I go over 160 characters on a SMS, the phone automatically converts it to a MMS. This is sometimes a problem because some of the people I send messages to cannot accept MMS without logging into the internet so I have to send the one MMS as two SMS.
    AND I am not happy at all about the battery! I generally use the phone for mainly phone calls and text messages, sometimes photos and videos and once I have connected to the internet. I am finding that I have to charge the phone every night and that if I do use it in the day (and I have my business called diverted to it when I am out the office), by about 4pm I get the “low battery” warning. Has anyone else experienced problems of this nature or do I have a faulty phone/battery?

    every phone no matter what brand should have the option to update its firmware by itself……specially if it has glitches, come on ENGINEERS/DESIGNERS have some pride….

    I love this phone to pieces!
    I’ve had it for only 4 days so far and i cant get off it!
    I previously owned and iPhone (2g) for a year and a half, and at first i thought there was no phone better, but after a friend of mine purchasing this phone and comparing it with my iPhone, i now see the LG Arena KM900 does EVERYTHING the iPhone (2g + 3g) can do AND more!!
    There are so many little things this phone can do that impress me! And of course the big things it can do!
    If there is anybody who is currently reading this comment, and thinking about purchasing this phone should listen to me and buy it! There is no other phone like it!
