Helen (and Loki) play with the Secret’s video camera

It’s Friday so here’s our weekly video. They say never work with children or animals – but in this case they’re wrong. Loki the husky couldn’t have behaved better as she performed brilliantly for the camera, while we took some slow-motion footage of her to demonstrate the LG Secret’s 120fps video camera.     Hi guys, loving the blog, very informative. I’m consdering purchasing the Viewty or the Secret primarily for the excellent 120fps video, but I’ve heard in some reviews there’s considerable difference in quality between the two (Secret’s video blurrier). Could you verify this is case or not?

    Hi Tom – the resolution of the Secret’s camera in 120fps mode is the same (QVGA – 320 x 240px) as the Viewty, so there should be no difference in blurriness. Bear in mind that video quality can vary for a wide variety of reasons, including lighting conditions and how steadily the phone is being held. Video sharing sites’ compression settings and formats also vary when videos are uploaded which can further vary quality. Therefore it can be difficult doing like-for-like comparisons.

    Thanks for the quick reply Chris. Good to know they record at the same specs, I imagine the two models might perhaps use different CCD chips and recording hardware however that could lead to differences in quality (more compression artifacts etc?).

    From the sounds of it though in your opion there seems to be no discernable 120fps quality difference?

    Sorry to be so demanding! :D

    Yes, as far as I can see there is no difference between videos I’ve recorded on the Secret and the Viewty.

    Hey, I’ve just got the LG Secret and after having a bit of trouble uploading some videos to my PC i’ve managed to do it, but I can only play them back on the LG PC Suite, not on Quicktime or Real Player and in Windows Media Player it just plays the sound with no picture.

    Can you let me know why this is and how it can be resolved? I want to upload my videos online but I won’t be able to watch them!

    Kat – the Viewty records in DivX format and you may not have the right codec (software to read the format). The DivX website allows you to download either the player or codec for other software such as QuickTime from here: http://www.divx.com/
